Even if this was not true i mean cmonnnnn she is kson. Same voice, english, etc. And because thats likely true i think its very interesting that she is a vtuber. She has done some live action cosplay streams on the kson account and she is very attractive so would have no problem being a face cam streamer if she wanted to, but instead she is doing the vtube stuff. It gets into what other people were talking about by hiding behind the personality you can maybe cut loose more and be more genuine even though you're playing a character. I've seen this stuff around but not really followed it closely until this thread popped up and shits wild. I really like seeing streaming branching out into all these weird things. There is a lot of open space for comedy content creators to just do wacky stuff and vtube allows for that very strongly if you're got improv skills and a modicum of humor. All the ones listed in this thread have some genuine crack up moments as shown by all the highlight vids coming out of their streams. FYI Riot Games has an upcoming League of Legends champion that is a vtuber and now im wondering if they will actually have her "stream" and enter this fray. its probably worth considering spoiler tags when naming names, some people don't want to hear it or see it disseminated so loosely. but a lot of vtubers' past identities are basically open secrets. especially in hololive most of them come from previous streaming experience and they all had fans who recognized their voices/etc. its legitimately cool in the sense that vtubing presents a larger platform for these people to just do what they enjoyed doing previously, but now it actually pays the bills rather than just being a hobby stream on niconico.

There is plenty of money to be made by launching cross-platform vtubers so we'll see them soon. Take some new VA, put her into a high-profile anime/game, and then have her stream as her own character. If the character is popular then it's safe money. Can you imagine the success of a modern Asuka Langley insulting her viewers? That could pretty much bring Japan out of its stagflation by itself.

my favorite kson bit is how she did a bunch of english-teaching streams where she just sprinkles the f bomb onto every sentence. the deadpan delivery of that brand of humor is uncanny. Talking about what VTubers do/did outside VTubing, even if it's "open secrets", can be hugely problematic for them both professionally and personally. "Open secrets" are still secrets even if the truth is easy to find, talking about them in the open effectively amounts to doxxing. Don't.

it's definitely more complex than that, since alternate identities range from "still streaming on an account whose sub count rose 10x because their vtuber fans are there" to "dead niconico account with the vods left up" to "past content completely scrubbed by the streamer but people saved their stuff and still spread it around". you could definitely make it a thread rule to just not bring it up (most fansites/subreddits/discords/etc already do this) and again i think in lieu of that, spoiler tagging should be a courtesy to the people who dont want to see it.

How about - if they're actively streaming on a separate channel/persona then you can discuss it under spoilers - if the other channel/persona is abandoned/shuttered then don't talk about it - if big news stories like Aloe drop then it's fine to discuss in the context of the situation but don't name/link stuff.

The numbers I usually see thrown around are 30-40% range for hololive/nijisanji? And that's after the payment processor + google/apple cuts. Youtube/google takes 30%, and apple takes 30% of superchats that come from the iOS app.

It's well known that YouTube takes 30%. The guesses are that Cover Corp take 40-50%, leaving the talents with somewhere between 30-40% of the total amount, but they then also have to pay taxes of the income.
