So Makima’s subordinate devils names might be mistranslated(not that it’s the translator’s fault) and might actually be named after the Christian Angel Hierarchy Beam=Bim, as in CheruBim Prinz=Princ as in Principalities Power is also an angel rank. And obviously the actual Angel devil, who hasn’t been given a name. The Violence devil doesn’t fit this but it was never given a name. All this makes the angel imagery with Makima make a lot more sense. If any more get introduced this’ll be easy to prove or disprove. EDIT: I guess that would make Denji Lucifer? The angel names seem to absolutely line up, although i'm not sure what they might mean in regards to anything; Prinz and Beam do the most work to obfuscate the origin but i think it checks out.chiasaur11 posted:

There's obviously a lot going on with Makima but I like the thought that she's setting herself up to be reborn as or replace a god as she's clearly going down the cult route of control when it comes to Denji / what used to be the 4th. The fact that she wants to break Denji's contract with Pochita is clearly a lynchpin of something for her as she's the only demon so far that wants him specifically but isn't just after his heart.

Am I the only one who read this as Makima finally using her power of control on Denji? It seems like his intestines burst out, it's surprising for him. I wonder if Makima knew Denji was capable of this all along, and only just now thought it was necessary to "force" him into this.

I didn't really understand that bit as its clear the Hell Devil formed from the guts of the sacrifice squad, but also Denji's guts ripped out as well. Is that just a reaction to the Hell Devil being there or from Makima? Unknown. Also wow hell devil, way to get poo poo on. Who wins in a fight? The devil that represents the entire concept of Hell, which has feasted on the fear of billions for thousands of years or 1 toothy boi?

My thought was that Denji is normally resistant to Makima's power as others have speculated before, but since he's in broke-brained "I don't want to make choices or think anymore" mode, it works on him. Though also, this is the first time she's addressed him as Chainsaw Man rather than Denji or something, right? So maybe she it's like a "true name" kind of thing, she just had never addressed him the right way to trigger it. But then, I don't think she needed to know/use names before, she just commanded people, so that's not a great theory. There's gotta be more to either the Hell Devil or to Kushibe's anti-Makima plan beyond this summoning though. No way they're going to bust out Super Chainsaw Mode 2 and only do one move.
