It was a thing in fanfiction cricles back in the day, and I had honestly assumed it was completely gone nowadays, but it's actually a fairly big thing within Yaoi, especially so with korean/japanese creators. A friend of mine who was looking into helping translate manga was surprised at just how many BL focused scanlation groups there are, and we were both surprised to see how many -specialize- in omegaverse stuff. (Or maybe it's more that the wave of popularity took a while to propagate over there?) The primary thing you need to know is that if someone uses it in a story, they're basically guaranteed to be the worst loving writer ever. The 'universe' itself is beyond gross. (The mpreg and knotting are non-issues compared to the massive widespread social strcuture of 'lol erryday is rape day' in them that make them so profoundly unsettling.) It's insane rape fiction where all the factors of the universe are there purely to set up cases where character A rapes B, and B falls in love with them and is abused, or hates them, and is abused. As Nicholson points out in the tweet, it's just a bizarre format/world structure terrible writers use to smash together characters that would loving loathe and refuse to interact with eachother in a sensible setting. So yeah, like OwlFancier says, it's a bizarre thing where they just make a bunch of  up just to perpetuate the worst loving personal relationships you're going to see in any form of media.It absolutely deserves its spot in the AUG thread.

Lindsay is a professional who’s been doing this for a long time and even got Legal Eagle to join the video to explain DMCA takedowns. She wouldn’t be doing this if she wasn’t confident she was legally in the clear. This also isn’t a “lawsuit.” You have to be formally served for that. This is a standard intimidation tactic where you pay little or nothing to a lawyer (or pretend to be a lawyer) to have a threat of a future lawsuit sent in the hopes that it scares the person into backing off immediately. It has no teeth to it, which is why she’s laughing at it.
