Prometheus could have been better if: 1. We liked any of the characters. They were all flat and interchangable. 2. The movie picked a loving protagonist. Are we rooting for Noomi Rapace? Or David? Or the dead dude who was hidden? 3. Why the gently caress are med pods gender based? 4. Weyland's entire idea of getting immortality was loving stupid. He should have been wanting to meet the creators to show off David or some poo poo. 5. The gently caress was with the helmets? 6. Let's focus on Noomi's character. She's the new Ripley. And let's make more of the story have a few seconds here and there of her, like the opening scene isn't the suicidal Engineer, it's her finding another negative pregnancy test, maybe some mail that she's infertile but there are adoption options. Throwaway line that she and her boyfriend broke up about this. Then hey look they find another symbol! And then off to space! And maybe she's the only one who is nice to David. Even gets irritated when others treat him like crap. Now we have a likable character that isn't defined by...well, nothing. Or make the movie with David as the main character, and he's seeking out the Engineers to find out just why the gently caress humanity is so hosed up. 7. Engineers should not have made the human race, OR the Xenos. Instead they found the Xenos and were working on...I don't know, making them more controllable? Wasn't there some origin comic where Xenos were naturally occurring creatures....and they weren't even the top of the food chain?

i dont think they need to include any exposition on shaw reattaching davids head to his body because thats the only conveivable thing that couldve happened between the events of leaving the prometheus planet with only 1 other person and arriving at the engineer-inhabited world with his head reattached. it never even occurred to me to wonder how he became whole again because it was nearly self-evident

I saw Covenant in theaters, but only saw Prometheus the first time a few weeks ago. Mostly Prometheus left me thinking it deserved a better sequel. It was definitely flawed, but I thought the disjointed pace and tone gave it kind of a weird dreamlike feel; I would have like to see how the next movie further explored this one's questions and possibilities. Instead, it's like they decided "Who cares? The robot killed everybody. Let's XENOMORPH LORE!" Edit: I also only saw Alien and Aliens the first time this last month. Alien is great, but Aliens is best. Also, I agree on David's head. As far as questions raised by the ending of Prometheus, how the robot got his body back is pretty low on the list of important ones. Both the fact that she reassembled him and that he murdered her to further his experiments are explicit, are people really criticizing the movie about missing that? David flat out says it IIRC.

I love Prometheus. It was released during a heat wave when I was unemployed. I'd pay for my ticket right when the theater opened up. Five minutes before that, I'd have purchased a fifth of mamajuana. Then I'd sleep and sip in the theater until they kicked me out, usually around 6PM. Fun fact: if you do something often enough, your brain decides that you are doing it often enough so you much enjoy it. I have strongly positive associations with Prometheus.

Pretty sure you see Shaw lowering Davids body out of the crashed ship at the end of Prometheus. Then you see Shaw patching David up during a flashback in the next movie. Seems like how he got his body back is pretty well explained.

It was me that made this mistake earlier in the thread. I rewatched the film and now see I forgot the part where she lowers his body from the engineer’s ship. Also, that other poster said it there is a voice over at the beginning of covenant where he says she put the body back together. They are somewhat forgettable scenes, tbh
