Wout, being new to road sprinting, left a lane open next to the barriers. Sagan took it and asserted himself. That sanction/relegation is pretty bullshit if you ask me.

After the shove, Sagan goes straight for a bit and then leans left a touch. Wout moves left pretty much in tandem and only does a half-hearted throw. It looked like he saw Bennett coming in and didn't want to risk anything at the line. Even if he threw well, he'd already lost too much speed to edge Sagan. I initially saw Sagan's post shove riding as intentional lane blocking, but now it looks at worst intentionally borderline.

If the TdF organizers want to prioritize rider safety, how about: 1) Not having those perpendicular triangular foam advertising signs on the fences? 2) How about setting up two layers of barriers to keep idiot fans from leaning over with their phones? (this happens at every single race)
