Musick To Play In The Dark's finally getting reissued, so that might change soon

That's awesome. Looks like their previous Coil reissues got digital releases so I assume this one will too. Unfortunately Coil have a somewhat large discography so it'll probably be years before everything is reissued.

I'm loving the new KMFDM dub album. It's a nice switch up from the rut they've been in for years. I think the last time they've done something this different was no guitars in KMFDM vs. SKOLD.

I hate to be a party pooper but YET AGAIN I listened to KMFDM after a recommendation here and meh.

I love that it's dub and a change of pace ... but it wasn't exactly good dub. It's fine. And I wish they had kept doing more of that kind of stuff throughout the last 20 years.

I just stumbled across this four months late, and love it:

"KMFDM" is just Lucia and Sascha hawking merch and putting out really samey and bad music. If not for Ministry's Al endorsing Biden they would be the biggest disappointment in Industrial Music.

Suicide Commando was never a band I was that into back in the day, I would listen to them sure when someone put it on, but if I ever wanted to get my aggrotech on I would put on Hocico or something else.

But I'm quite happy to see that they're still doing their thing with little compromise, they're just trucking along.

i went and saw suicide commando play and i had a good time because of its inherent ridiculousness. especially the backing visuals. i didn't like the bloody violent serial killer stuff, but there was a part where they had north korean troops marching to the beat and a giant set of teeth chomping to another song. it was like CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP

So hey, I've spent the last while trying to make some industrial music. Started off as midlife crisis I guess, then became something to do during lockdown since there's no gigs or clubs to go to. I've finished enough tracks to make an EP, so have put it up on bandcamp.

https://trellick.bandcamp.com/releases

It's PWYW, and I guess it's kinda EBM/industrial type stuff with some rhythmic noise influences in there too. Hopefully someone might like it! :v:

Covenant are apparently working on something - but not sure how soon it'll be since I think they're just getting back to the studio, going by their IG.

Only got a chance to listen to the first song but I really enjoyed it! I like the way you blended some of the harsher noise into the "dancier" section - some really nice contrast in tones. Excited to listen to the rest!

I liked Death In Rome as a straight-up parody of neofolk (but doing pop covers for the most part) except tbh they play it a bit too close to be honest since the DIR parody only works because a bunch of the stuff they're parodying is Nazis or at the very least fash-leaning, so their joke stops being funny after a while

Edit:

I legit can't tell if this St Michael Front video is an attempt to do a serious staring-into-the-distance neofolk video on zero budget, or if it's a parody of that kind of video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am1P2bm9Ocw

Second edit: to be clear, I think St Michael Front seem pretty good! I like it!

Depressing as hell for old school fans. I had backstage passes and followed them on tour back in...2003? Then again in like 2008. The ATTAK album was legit and the tour that followed was amazing. I saw them again in 2015 and wasn't impressed.

I enjoyed Attak (especially Superhero). I saw their 2003 tour (in Ottawa) and holy gently caress I hated it. It was the beginning of the stable guitar line-up.

They also destroyed my hearing. Too little too late, but I've worn earplugs to every single concert since then. I was deaf for almost three loving days.

I later got a press pass in 2011 and their live show then was amazing.

Oh Yas has been back ever since. First subbed in for live shows, but they've been collaborating since.

If you buy an old copy of Quake, it has the soundtrack on there as it played directly off the CD. I don't think there's any digital/cassette formats though.

Apr 21, 2010

The remastering refers to mastering for vinyl pressings, not necessarily and updated/improved* version of the soundtrack. Quake CD is still the best way to get those OGGs for digital playback.

*I don't really like the mastering of this vinyl release, at least from hearing from LGR's turntable set up over YouTube audio compression. Sounds much too warm for such a cold game.

raymond watts' boomer rock isn't particularly innovative but it worms its way into my ear

the track listing for the new record lists 'kickin rear end' which is an old KMFDM track so it'd be cool to hear that reworked. saw him perform it live during one of his recent tours and it was great

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIJNzAx7TiQ

if i recall watts was grinding on the microphone stand (i love him so much) and the backing video was the "chicks who love guns" scene from jackie brown. play ^ song and mute the bottom video to get the effect

last time i saw him though was opening for killing joke in front of a crowd of their fuddie-duddy fans while he was wearing full BDSM gear, with my twink rear end dancing up a storm in the audience. that attracted some girls who were also into it and one told me afterwards that they liked how much i was enjoying myself. he also shined this portable spotlight on me that he was carrying around on stage and using as a prop

Wow, was so many years ago I even heard PIG. It's not something I get to hear that often when out to industrial clubs or even at friends places so I almost forgot it existed.

It's a nice throwback either way, some good stuff even if it is a bit old-school.
