It's probably like that so they can use as many readily available phone components as possible, but at the same time it makes it painfully obvious there's no real reason for this thing to exist as a pricey physical chunk of hardware rather than just being an app.

We had not left it yet, but when I would wake in the night, I would lie, listening, homesick for it already.

Maximum length a computer can stick out from handlebars would be a very UCI rule to introduce.

100% will be a rule soon at the size each new gen of bike computer gets.

Actually I wonder if it would already technically infringe on the handlebar rules at the moment:

quote:

The traditional type of handlebars must be used in road races, cyclo-cross and track races
(apart from track time trials and pursuits). The attachment of any additional handlebar
component or extension is prohibited in these events.
In no case shall the front of the handlebars exceed the tolerance of 5 cm in relation to a
vertical line passing through the front wheel axle, which is the control zone of the bicycle.
The more forward the handlebar is positioned, the less manoeuvrable the bicycle will be and
the less it will be easy to react quickly to an obstacle or a wind gust. Moreover, this would
result in moving the centre of gravity of the rider on the bicycle, which would increase even
more the risks of loss of control.

I think an out front mount and a massive computer might but it over the front wheel axis on some bikes, depending on stem/handlebar config and rake of the wheel.

God! A red nugget! A fat egg under a dog!
Don't know if this is still a practice but teams used to screw the computer into the mount so it could be weighed with the bike, allowing them a few more grams off the weight limit. Bikes are a little bit heavier now so this sort of thing might not be worth it anymore.

6.8kg rule is now actively harming bike development. Top end frames are now heavier so they don't need weights added and everything else has got porkier as a result.

Bring it down to at least 6kg. I want to see darimo, thm and ax lightness components with specialised stickers on them and poo poo.

Would also stop every bike frame from going down the aero route too.

Yeah I want to see some proper aero/weight tradeoffs in frame design instead of the 'spare weight? gently caress it more aero' approach that everyone's got going on now.

I guess Uran feels good enough to hang onto roglic's wheel while the team goes for a stage win.

or they're setting up for him to attack over to them for a GC lead in the hopes we're done by Monday, which would be Froome at the Giro-tier 4d chess

Everyone's all "ban team radios for a more exciting race" but I reckon what we need is 25 day grand tours except after 12 stages at the end of each day there's a draw with an increasing chance that a ball is pulled saying "race over now".
