Honestly not that great a stage as it could have bin although we did get some GC changes.

Imo would have been better in a route like last year's where the massif central was hit up a few days before they eased into the Pyrenees. as it is it's before three brutal Alpine stages and everyone was probably fine to just let Jumbo work their domestiques and drop Bernal.

As far as I'm aware those synthetic haemoglobin substitutes don't increase oxygenation and massively increase the risk of heart attacks.

Never seen them used clinically.

Someone’s actually testing these? Who’s calling this stuff synthetic hemoglobin in the first place?

It's used for calibrating readings you use for serious business blood studies.

So they've obviously been using it to hide their true blood levels for the biopassport so the tests won't pick up the pint of chilean mountain child they were infused with.

Yeah, there's tons of issues with donated blood so there's been huge amounts of research into synthetic alternatives. Not so much anymore as they just seem to not work and also kill people

Yep and a bunch of athletes have tested positive for a drug who's trials were stopped early in mice because of the amount of tumours it was causing.

I think Jumbo needs to find another tactic besides murder train if they want to put Pogacar to the sword. Yes, Pogacar gets isolated as a result, but it doesn't matter a loving bit when he can pretty easily come over Roglic at the end and take time or bonus seconds. Roglic is clearly afraid to attack Pogacar too early, because I guarantee Pogacar would counter-attack a completely isolated Roglic. Come on Jumbo, send Sepp up the road and give him a flyer to either win the stage or serve as a bridge for Roglic to safely attack Pogacar.

If Pogacar can just chip a few more seconds the next couple stages then he doesn't even need to launch a big attack. Hell, status quo is probably fine. I really think he can grab the current gap in seconds from Roglic in the TT.

The latest bike sponsor rumors:

Mitchelton gets Bianchi
Sunweb gets Scott
AG2R gets BMC
Movistar continues with Canyon (seems that the Annemiek signing was a big deal...)
Jumbo gets Cervelo (but we knew that)

Still looking for title sponsors:
CCC
NTT

There were rumors of Alpecin-Fenix being interested in CCC’s WT license, but those were squashed.

Do they need to though? Roglic has 40 seconds on Pogacar still. He can just Cadel Evans it up behind Pogacar the whole time and all he needs to do is stay within 30-40 seconds in the time trial, depending on how much more bonus time Pogacar racks up.

E: I am dumb and did not read your whole post. Apparently Pogacar is a TT specialist or something? To me it's at least up in the air as riders in yellow can sometimes do exceptional things, especially in time trials. See Alaphilippe last year.

Pogacar isn't a specialist, but he has a very good TT. But stage 20 is a mountain TT, which is a bit different anyways. And pogacar is the better climber. He notably beat Roglic in the Slovenian TT champs recently , on a course that was mostly uphill.

You can make pretty good money betting on Pogacar as GC winner right now. Roglic gives x1.25 times your money back where Pogacar gives x3.75.

Dumoulin does his turn and swings off for Kruijswijk to just hammer it for another km uphill. 10 people left in the GC group after Van Aert does his bit and 4 of them are Jumbo riders.

Also Ganna has done a ridiculous 10km time trial at Tirreno. Broke the record for the course. 10.42 for 10km.

There is the possibility that everyone has just had much more rest and recovery than they would normally get in a season cycle so have come in fresher and smashed it, these are typical late season events that are suddenly early season following a longer period of recovery than normal.

Then again that's exactly what a doper would claim is the reason so who the gently caress even knows at this point.
