If you want to talk about low sub counts, male vtubers really need more recognition. Some of the Nijisanji boys and independents are doing great, but Holostars is kinda depressing. Rikka is the leader at nearly 60k. I know some of the problem is idol poo poo where purists hate when the guys collaborate with the girls. Roberu is gaining a lot of momentum though with his great networking skills, and Holo ID, Fubuki and Matsuri collab with them which helps. Question about vtuber tech: they use phone cameras for basic motion tracking like the streams where its just their face in the corner but why are there collabs where two of them are recording from the same location but one of thems a portrait?

there is an assumption often made in well-meaning support of holostars that idol culture is the barrier between them and hololive, which ignores the collabs that actually happen between interested hololivers and that holostars has tons of collabs elsewhere with girls who have no problem with it. an assumption that hololivers are not content with what they have, when you have several girls who have actually talked about not wanting to go through with such a collab. expecting these girls to collab with holostars because its their job is just being weird in the other direction. ive seen roberu comment from the other angle, saying that he gets why they're separate and that from a fan perspective he wouldn't want it otherwise. matsuri and fubuki are with holostars all the time and we've seen it sparingly from a few others like choco/roboco. after that you can look at countless collabs with nijisanji, voms talent, indies, roberu having his dream talk with everyone's favorite mangaka Pochi,,, holostars are not floating helplessly on an island.

I mean, Fubuki and Suisei are already getting fueled. Suisei even did a sponsored stream where she read off the requirements for sponsorship which stated 'roll to show off the gacha, then show off gameplay.' She abandoned showing off any gameplay, because she couldn't get what she wanted out of the gacha. Spent an hour and got her rl sister involved on nothing but gacha rolls.
