Just got one from Target!

edit: To clarify - I tried to add one to the cart when it went live earlier today. However I got immediately booted, but Target does this thing where they put the "oh this item is out of stock now" item in a "saved for later" portion of your cart. There's an "add to cart" button under it so I just spammed it for like 2 hours.

90% of the time it would just immediately refresh as out of stock.
8% of the time I could get to "added to cart, go to checkout!" but then immediately get booted as out of stock right after that.
1.9% of the time it would get to "place order" but then ... see above.

0.1% it went through!

I dunno. I got huge Ivalice tones from the trailer. It's was Game of thrones before Game of Thrones (since it was inspired by the same 100 year war). And all the check boxes are ticked off for an Ivalice game: darker more mature plot, insanely convoluted political bullshit, chocobo knights.

The thing about Ivalice is that it spans from golden age of magic and technology to dark ages with neother with thousands of years separating the games. This game could easily slot in there.

just as a qualifier, here's the order I played in BB>DS3>DeS>DS1>Sekiro>DS2

It's all worth playing but BB is goat and the game that best represents gen 8. Play BB -> DS3 -> then the older titles if you're hooked. Don't sleep on Sekiro, it's different but really something special.

BB and DS3 go extremely well together. If DS1 is ruined by playing BB then it's just another sign that DS1 is not as good as its stratospheric reputation suggests!

I played BB>DS3>DS2 until I realized it was trash>DS1

I would almost recommend DS1 first because going back to it after beating BB/DS3 makes it so crazy easy. Everything moves so slow, and you can really tell how much that game acted as the blueprint for the following games, so you already know how to beat everything, now you’re just doing it at half speed.

Yeah it'll be more expensive (especially since it's not part of that PS+ collection) but if you're going to play ~100 hours of a videogame it should probably be the better version of that game.

I'm playing Persona 5, about 35-40 hours in, I thought Persona 5 Royal necessarily follows Persona 5 mainline? Is this not right? I like the game a lot so I wouldn't want to skip either way, but it doesn't seem like Royal replaces mainline from what I know.

This. There are new events/confidants scattered throughout the game, and they added new ways to get around the dungeon and reworked boss fights so that they make more sense (the Madarame fight is almost completely redone) so the "Royal" part isn't just new endgame stuff. Although there is a new ending that leads into P5 Strikers, the sequel.

it has interesting art direction but the actual gameplay in the dungeon (the first one at least, i was too bored to progress much further than that) felt extremely washed out and mundane. plus the enemies were very clunky looking

when it shows actual hand drawn(?) anime faces and cutscenes is where it shines the most
