no, actually I reloaded the save and now I can buy units with faith again??? maybe it's a bug on the switch civ 6 but it's a problem that's cropped up a few times and it's making it really hard to understand the religion mechanics :/

I've had the blocking thing before, doesn't it always say there's too many units or something to that effect? this just offers no option to buy but I will block the site and test it out to be sure

I had the same problem on the Switch version - Queue has to be turned off to purchase units with gold or faith. It's not terribly intuitive.

Making your own fun is what launched computer games. I enjoyed the early text adventures as much as I enjoy modern games, but I don't have to do as much of the work anymore.

That said it's probably why I like RPGs and simulations. Building things of my own, the way I want to build them appeals to me.

Me, I'd want to add Sealand in as a City-state and the fictional island that California is named after. :v:

gently caress, I want this but I feel like actual Lakota ppl would have a problem being included as a character in a game about conquest and imperialism. Just finished a book earlier this summer about the ghost dance crackdowns and it was so interesting and infuriating.

Didn't they get in hot water with another tribe (Cree or maybe Shoshone from V I think) for doing this without consulting them at all?

"Deseret" didn't really happen but the Mormons were fairly autonomous in Utah for quite a while. Which kinda gets into the whole "what even is a Civilization by Civs own standards?" question.

Ah yeah, I'm not familiar with any Switch side issues at all so I can't really help. Glad its 'fixed' for now.

Edit: It was a specific councilman from a Cree First Nation that got a lot of news attention for fairly reasonable criticism of the problems with Civ at its core, though they actually worked with Poundmaker's actual descendants and a group of Cree musicians in the frist place.

The Shoshone actually ended up in V because Firxas originally wanted to do the Pueblo people but the representatives from the Pueblo were against having their language depicted in the game, it was tantamount to a form of desecration.

Yeah, I'd obviously want this done in consultation with Lakota people, and if they don't want to be depicted in the games at all they should leave it at that. The series has a fundamentally colonialist mindset, it would be interesting to see a civ that can avoid that and still succeed. They considered putting the Pueblo people in Civ V, but a group of them asked not to be in the game so we got the Shoshone.

please help my religion is dying :(

Maybe the holy site's been pillaged or destroyed by a natural disaster?

This was interesting to read. I once started writing a post complaining how Australia and America are only represented by colonial leaders and so on and it felt like a snub that there's no Aboriginal Australia civ but I totally get it now.

Oh hey thanks to Potato McWhiskey for helping me finally crack the Khmer. Somehow it had never occurred to me to not pursue a religious victory with them, and also I didn't have a grasp on how to make use of their great housing bonuses. Wound up going for science and then taking a diplo victory by building the Statue of Liberty in my massive-thanks-to-housing-bonuses capitol city.

I was pretty happy to see that vid; Khmer is one of my favorite civs to play even if they're not the best. They're another victim of people seeing 'faith' related values and assuming you should use them for a religious victory.

Byzantium sounds interesting although I don't know if it's one that I'll play beyond once. It sounds like it could be really powerful and perhaps a way to really make a lot of those civic policies 'based on opponent's religion' really strong.

The unique units sound kind of boring though. But at least the knight replacement and the Leader ability sound like they'll be pretty good together so that's something.

At worst though, it still seems like it will play pretty different so that's good.

Aztecs got a neat little stealth buff with the various amenity changes and the change to Entertainment Districts giving adjacency bonus to Theater Squares. Since their unique building is in the ED, and gives faith, it synergizes well enough with a culture victory. Makes them accidentally slide sorta into the same gameplay style as Gorgo where you conquer a neighbor or two early then be a shining beacon of art and tourist sites. I've found myself not really liking Aztec for later game, feeling like I wasn't sure where to go since everything they have is so early game central. This helps a lot with that.

The Aztecs are sorta good at everything. The universal combat bonus for military units is nice, but it also applies to religious units, and is the only bonus of its kind, which means your apostles are basically invincible if you build for it. Plus they can hammer out Spaceports in 4-5 turns in any city for the cost of a single Public Works Builder.

Pretty much any early game powerful bonus basically means the late game is snowballing into whatever direction you want it to be. My first Deity Aztecs game was eating Phoenicia on an oddly Mexico shaped continent and then just out producing everyone at everything. before going to space.

Been having a tough time with my first Gathering Storm playthrough, mostly due to being squished up against a coast line. But two of Sweden's cities up and joined my civ out of nowhere so that was cool, and for the first time in Civ 6 I've been able to successfully create cities across a body of water from my main region. Barbarians galore but they're doing okay, and that part of the map still has room to grow.
