I never thought I'd run out of Ex-cubes until doing Summoner and needing literally thousands of photons for 12* exp eggs.

When you get a drink from the dropship there's a checkbox at the top that allows you to pause any boosters you have on while the drink lasts.

I'm already down to like 15 more pulls on the newer SG banner and I've never spent money on SG. Unless you count mission pass being included in premium I guess. Anyway SG is a lot easier to get now than it was a couple months ago.

Are there any additions to the battle arena in Episode 5 or 6? I've been having fun with it, but I wouldn't mind if it was expanded beyond just 5v5 "king of the hill"

Someone upthread compared this to Diablo 3, and I think that's why I've been so into it. In a lot of ways, it's a game I can turn my brain off with, put on some music and just carve through a bunch of enemies. I sunk... a lot of time into Diablo 3 just grinding out seasons and running rifts as my wind-down evening relaxation ritual, and I think PSO2 is pushing a lot of the same buttons in my brain as that did. Of course, there's also the addition of the big fights I actually have to think about, which is good.

Also there's much more anime robot dress-up than D3 has, so there's that too.

Cool robots is how I got into Phantasy Star in the first place. Outside of PSO2 where I picked Deuman, I picked CAST if I'm given the option.

Anyway, I did an attempt against Deus Esca Gracia with another team and I actually managed to beat him without any deaths. In fact, it went rather smoothly and the third part of the fight (before the whole time limit phase) went really fast compared to the last attempt of fighting him. So that put me in a good mood.

Didn't get any notable drops though but I can't say no for free EX-Cubes and Photon Spheres.

Unless you're in a rush to cap out you don't really NEED to do AQs to level. Save your keys and do those instead. Quicker and arguably less boring. Before keys though, yes you did a lot of AQs.

Once you have one class leveled it gets so much easier to level others. You can just start funneling the keys from your dailies into your alts and once they're leveled you can give your keys from that character to your others and so on. I've gotten 3 classes leveled to 75 in the last couple months just with daily keys, sometimes I even save them up and trade them in for the gold keys even if it's less efficient. I boss rushed some vhaqs for weeklies a few weeks ago I think, otherwise it's been ages since I've actually grinded those out.

But yeah, you don't really get to spam keys like that on your first character but If the idea of running vhaqs to powerlevel sounds miserable to you, just don't do it. Be patient with the keys you do get, and remember that your sub and any hypothetical alts will be easier to level.

I just hit 74 on my guy, I haven't really done any grinding per se, just lots of UQs at the highest difficulty I can do at the time and lots and lots of dailies, with lots of bonus missions in there too as I get keys.

It's slowed a lot of course, but I'm still makin' those levels, and I'm really not in a rush so this works for me.

Also note: current players are about to be showered in bonus keys so that they can quickly level up the new hero class, since these keys have an expiration date you might as well use them to get your current classes up to cap. Another thing: you can only level both you main class and subclass at the same time until your subclass gets to level 60 after which you’ll have to make your subclass your main class to get it up to cap. Don’t be like me and get you main class to 80 only to realize your sub is still at 60.

Yeah, it also buries you in Photon Boosters.

The main benefit of the Launcher Spam AQ stuff is that you can do it without bothering to gear or skill your off class, and you barely even need to play.

Keys are great and easier but are usually limited to your guaranteed 1/day and whatever you randomly get from the gift boxes. They aren't mutually exclusive - you can take your launcher into the Tokyo keys and clear them without any issues.

So do only these new keys have an expiration on them or do all keys have an expiration timeframe? Can't play atm so I can't check.

All keys gotten from featured quest boxes expire a week after you get them. Most keys gotten from campaigns expire a month or so after the campaign

it's useful for people susceptible to burnout because leveling multiple classes to cap in pso2 loving sucks rear end and a lot of people don't like playing a lot of them

it doesn't help that the good options pso2 does have for leveling outside of keys are very limited and become pretty drat slow themselves once stuff gets into 80-90 territory. once you have a class combo leveled you also have the conundrum of using EQs to try to get gear or to level lower classes since you can't do both at the same time

After that both NA and JP PSO2 will get a massive expansion that is basically 'Episode 7' of PSO2, entitled 'New Genesis' that is giving them a new, open field area and a big graphic engine overhaul. The open field area area will probably become the jumping off point for future game content going forward, but it's all still PSO2.

Point of correction here, New Genesis is an entirely new game. New .exe, entirely separate battle systems, etc. PSO2-2, basically. They're doing something real weird with it, though: PSO2 proper and NG will share a character creation system (PSO2's is getting upgraded; look forward to less restricted accessories!) and all cosmetics. All the costumes and emotes and whatnot will carry over from PSO2 to New Genesis, and if I understand it correctly, back again. You can basically play the 'same character' in two different games, although like I said New Genesis will have different combat and your level and skills will be separate between the two.

I think that's getting awfully technical about it, but I guess it probably isn't a new .exe? Unless you just change in the launcher, but that's a stretch. Regardless, I think it being an entirely new game is a valid statement minus the .exe bit, it'll have different mechanics, storyline, and graphics. If I'm level 15 and have five moves and then I hit a button and I'm playing the game differently and my character is doing all different stuff and I'm level 67 and have twelve different moves, I'd consider it a 'new game'- but it might just be an issue of definitions at that point.
