From back when I played, I remember hearing great things about the clan LRM10+artemis: It may come out in a stream, but its a really tight grouping, and especially with tag can focus components down in ways other LRM groupings don't really have.
Also, the tonnage-to-damage ratio because clan tech.

Before the Great Assault Fattening, someone in group liked to run a close support lrm10x4 spirit bear. You had to lean on the LPLs to get work in,but it was actually able to dunk on people in the midrange real well: All the missiles leaving from one torso and having tight streams seemes to do the trick.

Not sure how to replicate this feat on another chassis. Look for omnipod cluster quirks and neighboring launcher locations?

I thoroughly recommend the Mad Dog if you want to LRM (or 6xASRM6, for that matter). The launchers are all clustered in a tight group in the middle of the mech. You can run 6xALRM10 without too much trouble, though I usually run 4x15 2x10 when I am in a rare lurming mood.

MWO.. I actually love this game. Well, I hate that all I can find are these stupid little matches and theyre over in like 10 mins and then I'm waiting another 10 mins for another one.. but yeah..

The teamwork is probably the best out of any game I've ever played. Being an aussie, I can say 'hey guys' in that bit where you're waiting to go to the map and usually people will say hey and we'll start talking about our strat. This just doesnt happen in other games.. I would assume its because there are a bunch of old dudes like (usually americans, so I just dont play when the US is asleep) me and we just have a grand old time.

Is there a Word of Lowtax or anything anymore? A group I could join and do more than the skrimish matches? I have a blinged out account, many years ago I spent too much money and my MadCat with twin AC10s and AC5 usually tops the board for my team. But I have an annhilator decked out with LRMs and yeah, all sorts..

I still log into this game for a couple hours a month to run around in my Urbies. I have two gimmicky builds that I use exclusively (4 heavy MGs with 2 medium pulse lasers and an autocannon with 2 medium lasers) and it's crazy how the effectiveness of different weapons seems to swing so much from patch to patch.

I haven't been on for a couple months, but there is a discord (which I think is in the OP?) full of goons. They're all friendly, cool people and I have had a good time every time we have played together. I recommend it. Last I checked the group was still around but had changed its name to not be associated with Lowtax anymore for obvious reasons. Not sure who runs it right now and how you'd get invites though.

I'm back on my MWLL bullshit after some changes on the dev team. We had a pretty good incident last night with a guy who insisted that other players were hacking to create energy shields. (The idea of a hack so comprehensive that it adds its own immersive visual assets is pretty cool.)

It turned out that he thought the white highlight around a target you have missile locked was an energy shield, and since his LRMs weren't instantly destroying his foe they were being absorbed by hacker powers. :allears:

i want some loving HAGs. i don't even know what they're supposed to be like or how you'd implement them, i just know that a dire wolf with two HAG40s would be sick one way or the other. also if they update the engine they should finally give us alternate ammos, inferno SRMs would be absolutely game changing.

General Battuta

This is how you communicate with a fellow intelligence: you hurt it, you keep on hurting it, until you can distinguish the posts from the screams.
In tabletop HAGs are functionally just LRMs with weird range modifiers (despite the fiction being more like a gauss Metal Storm).

MWLL implemented them really well, I thought. Full auto weapons with excellent range and slight spread, so that at long range you sandblast the target and at close range it's pinpoint damage. A HAG20 gets 20 rounds without jamming, a HAG40 gets 40. You get best DPS if you magdump, rather than burst firing. This is very important because it distinguishes the weapon from ultra autocannons, and it's a lot more fun to use.

e: of course MWLL doesn't have a mechlab so the devs can prevent anything too monstrous from happening. There was a double HAG20 Blood Asp that got cut pretty quick because it was so degenerate.

Did anyone else play the mechwarrior game from 2000s that never made it out of beta?

You would sign up for a planet, planets would have drop limits, then you would just drop.

I think you signed up for a house before that but that didn't matter. Just wins for each house did.

I remember everyone started with the same garbage mech, and they made up most of the mechs you'd see at any given time. I can't even remember what it was, but it was a white boxy thing that I think had like two lasers and a flamer.

Yep, Mechwarrior 3025. Had some good ideas ( fixed load outs, randomly generated maps) and some bad ones ( hits were detected by the firing client, mouse sensitivity was used a difficulty adjustment )

It could have worked really well, but they just stopped wanting to spend money on it, and it would have needed it to ever be finished. Had knockdowns though.

Finally found a video of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8RlHHiR1v4

Was just thinking of it while pondering what MWO could do to rework their monitization. But I really just a rework of MWO.

Also a better queue system since they kept loving it up.

Faction play would be fun if they just.. redid the entire thing. Or at least let there be a quick play faction warfare thing where you still earn points for your faction based no your own wins and losses so it feels like progress.

But they will probably make some monthly fee garbage where you get better trial mechs or something dumb.

Even looking at the 'sale' right now, the cost of any of the packs is just well, awful. And I am personally just comparing what a month of some mmo can get me in enjoyment for cost compared to a single package.
