I don’t even think Sabine is going to be in this season. Even the insane batshit clearly-making-it-up “leakers” rarely mention her. Banks is almost certainly playing some new character.

Most of that is due to the end of Rebels showing Ahsoka and Sabine going off together, so it would be assumed post GCW they'd be a team. Plus she's a mandolorian that is responsible for the start of the uprising against the empire, gave Bo Katan the Dark Saber and her family where members of Death Watch, who is the Mandolorian cadre that rescued Din when he was a kid.

I don't think it would be surprising if Sabine shows up, but 100% Sasha Banks is not playing Sabine.

It all depends on how much time they will spend on the Ahsoka/Bo-Katan, etc. plot this season, when there's still a possibility they will just show up for one episode at most. I think some leak even suggested that Ahsoka will literally just be in one scene, which is the season cliffhanger.

This month's Star Wars ongoing had a bit of a Rebels connection. Turns out Sheev and Vader bound the Grand Inquisitor's spirit to an old High Republic outpost to serve as a part of a trap to ensnare Jedi

Luke shows up and, of course, defeats him; a bit later, Vader arrives:

As excited as I am to see a Rebels continuation, I’d definitely be a little disappointed if it wasn’t animated. Animation allows you to do a lot of things that would be insanely budget-intensive in live-action.

I mean.....considering how Pedro Pascal is replaced with his stunt double so much and just voices the mando like 50% of time they can totally do that with Sabine. Just have her keep her helmet on.

Disney is reorganizing their media and entertainment business emphasis to focus their content creation on streaming as an obvious side effect of Covid:

https://www.movienewsnet.com/2020/10/12/disney-reorganize-streaming-investors-meeting/

Not sure if that means even more SW will be pushed up/given the go ahead.

At least three shows are on deck for sure, with more rumored:

Cassian - Production soon
Obi-Wan - Production soon
Bad Batch - Ongoing production
Mandalorian 3 - Production soon

Rebels Sequel - Rumored ongoing production

Favreau talks about The Mandalorian

quote:

“The line is blurring now,” said Favreau. “Things that you would have only seen in the movie theater, you’re seeing on streaming, and I think it could go the other way as well.”

Favreau said he’s in “no rush” to push the show beyond a streaming series. “But we’re definitely open to it,” he added, “and excited to see where the story leads us and have that flexibility — because there’s no rulebook now. Technology is always offering new opportunities to tell stories in a fresh way. It’s a very exciting time to be doing this and I feel very grateful that we’re able to be able to work remotely, because of the nature of the technology that we’re dealing with. So we’re continuing to try to move forward and keep the ball rolling, even though it’s been a challenging time for everyone.”

As for Pascal, the actor said he would “love” to make a “Mandalorian” movie, but he’s heard no discussion of one as of now.

“I think that the work is so beautiful that I would love for that to be held by a big screen experience,” he said. “But it seems to work so well that also I’m not sure it’s something that I would want corrupted by any kind of change, you know? I mean, I certainly know that the challenge can be met. It’s not like these people don’t have the experience. If anybody can do it, they can!”

I think this is a good series to separate the hero from the hero ship. If the Razorcrest is destroyed, he can just shrug and get a different one. Bonues: fan whiplash from everyone who hated the original design suddenly thinking it was way better than this new interloper ship.

I dunno why, but I love the concept of Obi-Wan as a broken, PTSD-suffering war veteran. It's very deconstructive of the 'Galaxy of Adventure!' idea.

I've seen that before and always liked it. Very somber and fitting. Looking it up and Alec Guinness was 63 when he did the original movie. McGregor doing the decade before prequel around the same accurate age is a bit nice. Hoping it is quality. Ewan McGregor can do PTSD and broken quite easily.
Different vein but liked this too. Always wish we had more Vader bits where he comes across as a beast.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to2SMng4u1k

Aeons ago but I agree with Goon with Thrawn avatar: Ahsoka is cool. Grew up with the prequels but always considered them a bit cheesy. Clone Wars is what made me care about Star Wars. Ahsoka Tano has a great character arc. Rebels wasn't nearly as good but I still appreciated the bits with Ahsoka and Darth Maul. Like some said I wish the last time we saw her was with Vader but oh well. For Maul alone, I would give Filoni a chance. That final scene of Maul and Obi Won is so good. Two old samurai that meet after decades of chasing each other. Maul tries the same tactic that killed Qui-Gon (as he's trapped in that moment by hate) but Kenobi counters as he learned much more since those old days. Loved the gentle moment between them after the fight is done.

I wish they had included the sweeping score that continued in the credits.

edit: I meant gentle... heh gentile

I thought scene 38 was quite bad. I suppose the CG is technically proficient, but there’s really no sense of cinematography to it; the camera just floats around like it’s a video game.

The original tease for it was great because it only offered up glimpses of potential. As a whole though, yeah, it feels very amateur and loses a lot of the mystique.

"Jesus, did I say that? Or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me?"
That scene in the final Clone Wars season where they've captured Maul and are taking him back, right before Order 66 hits, had such an incredible synth style score and was animated to perfection.

That whole final season is A+ as far as i'm concerned. Getting Ray Park to come back and do mocap for Maul's fights was an excellent idea, too.
