It's literally exactly that if you are judging the whole person rather than condemning certain views they held. I know you want me to imagine an old white lady saying the n-word or whatever but there's plenty to criticize about her without dreaming up make believe offences. And that's perfectly fine, but also someone can be fondly remembered as a champion of some righteous causes even though they were flawed and imperfect. We don't need people breathlessly listing their shortcomings immediately upon their passing to remind us they were human and therefore lovely in some way. We know that.

My condemnation of the notorious RBG is based solely on her actions and the consequences of them. Her "righteous cause" was used to end affirmative action and, fearing her judicial seat might be filled by someone else, passed up a chance to be replaced while a democrat supermajority was in power while she had just survived yet another cancer, somehow, at an advanced age, while still afflicted by cancer whose survivability is extremely low even for people whose healthcare is not bound to such fictional constraints as "money."

This has been a pet peeve of mine for years, which has only accelerated since Trump took office....and I argue is why he's in office in the first place. There is this endless infighting and attacking of those who are very clearly on the right side and working for good, which undermines the cause. One thing regressives are exceptionally good at, for all their other faults, is putting aside comparatively minor differences to present a unified front. I've drifted apart from some friends in recent years because their constant, performative, more-woke-than-thou posturing was frankly exhausting.

Good satire, Baron, but there's people in Amerikkka in the year 2020 who unironically believe that that's why the democrat party can only ever allow things to get worse while moving heaven and earth to halt improving material conditions for the populace at all costs whenever they accidentally find themselvea with power.

She hosed up on not retiring and I will forever be disappointed in her for it But literally no one is celebrating those things. People are celebrating her groundbreaking and important work for gender equality, especially in the workplace, much of which was done before she was even a justice. That and her forceful dissents on many topics which inspire young people to take up causes they believe in and will also be used in many legal arguments in the future. You just seem to want to point out that her compass pointed NNE instead of true N or that she hosed up sometimes or some of her actions had unintended consequences, which again no poo poo but you don't need to kramer into the room every time someone mentions her to let us know that she wasn't perfect and was therefore 100% bad

The Bloop posted:You gave the game away right here Did you watch them between the years 2016 and 2020? Republicans are more democratic. They'd never let a little thing like "brash and in no way qualified for office" get in the way of running a popular candidate that people want to vote for, but that is a bridge too far for the holder of the democrats' pursestrings.

See also, Britain; like Susan Collins, the so-called "moderate Tories" will tut and say that they are Very Concerned, but at the end of the day, they'll vote in lockstep with the headbangers to let the government break international law.

Posting totally earnestly here - I think it is the natural end state of today's wholesale rejection of middle ground. If there's no space to accept someone being wrong, then anything that is not good must be 100% bad. Any moral impurity makes someone a terrible person, and all wrongs are equally monstrous. And if all wrongs are equally bad, 'ah yes the Chinese are sterilising Muslims and forcing them into slave labour camps, but did u know Western companies use sweat shops??? there is no ethical consumption etc' Who wins from this? The concentration camps and the sweat shops, not us.
