yeah i was kinda worried it would be too gross for some people  idk if i mentioned it in this thread but the first draft had a section on this guy who was talking about how pornography was a demonic curse invented by the jews to corrupt people and at some point i realized that was just a bit too spicy for the podcast. to their credit though even the bitcoiners were making fun of him so that's, uh, something i guess

someone just suggested the perfect book title: Libra Shrugged now to make it live up to it three readers so far have said the book only takes off when I get to this bit: quote:This all points to the real attraction of the project. I can see how it would be tough to lead with that when tying into other examples would generally be closing alarm bells in most books. Maybe lead with crypto's attempts to evade authorities and go "but what if Wallace-esque megacorp"?

to be fair, the book doesn't take off until that point because you have to spend a whole bunch of pages explaining concepts like "blockchain" and "bitcoin" and "the internet", as well as a bunch of fairly narrative-stopping biographical sketches. like you can definitely strengthen the book by examining the whole project through the lens of libertarian tech bros doing libertarian tech bro things and given the current climate the idea that these people should not be allowed to operate without supervision will resonate. but the book itself doesn't really have a narrative until you make that point.
