Our review identified changes needed to be made and, in Stephen, we have a coach who has a reputation for demanding the highest standards.
Speaking of anti-vaxxers, Addin Fonua Blake wants out of Sydney for family reasons and Manly have given permission for him to negotiate with the Queensland Clubs and the Warriors. Warriors rumoured to be the frontrunners with a 3 year $2.5k deal and potentially Bunty Afoa (who was reportedly told he's free to look elsewhere a few weeks back) going over to Manly.

It's about finding that next group of core players we can win with in the next 6, 8, 10 years. Let's face it, it's hard for 20-, 21-, 22-year-olds to lead an NHL team. Look at the playoffs.

I pretty much exclusively listen to ABC grandstand these days for the footy and watching this eels / Broncos game on tv has reminded me how loving awful the whole channel 9 team is. Gould is just a polyp in a suit who thinks he's the smartest prick in the room, fittler is a white noise generator (I am well positioned to recognise that when I see it in the mirror) and half the time rabs is awkwardly grasping at fading memories from tackles past, feebly clawing at them through the fog of age

I am blissfully free of Channel 9 these days, in NZ we get the Fox team for every game which is generally tolerable-to-good except Blocker Roach.

I don't know of many other sports where the commentators spend as much time actively making GBS threads on the legitimate rules of the game than NRL's Channel 9 idiot squad.

Like I know radio callers have a different job compared to TV but at no stage of listening to channel 9 do I feel like I have actually learned something deeper about the game. or learned anything of any significance whatsoever. I have learned however that Fittler calls the freeway between Sydney and Newcastle the "highway to hell" ho ho ho loving epic bantz there Freddy!!!!! And rabs saw a galah die as a kid in the country

Walters in at the Bronx, seems like Bellamy as director in 2022 is all but certain.

ili
Jul 26, 2003

I'm really Keen to see how much Walters can turn this around. Seibold, along with the fuckwits above him, did a lot to destroy the Broncos culture and Kevvie would be pretty good at building it back again. If we boot the medical staff who oversaw our worst season ever injury-wise, with a crazy number injured at training and at least one playing on an undiagnosed fractured leg for more than 2 months, and actually field our first grade squad I think he can restore the squad's confidence reasonably quickly.

BlindSite
Feb 8, 2009

I'm pretty happy with the rumors that Cartwright and Henry will be joining as assistants. I think he's learned from Meninga and co after all those years. Run the program, set the tone and bring in the best guys around you to handle the nitty gritty. Be nice if we had some roster stability and a CEO as well but can't ask for much more in the coaching dept at this point. At least the Bird experiment is all but over given the broncos have told him he can go away and they'll chip in for part of his pay cheque.

No, he's started 17 games of a possible 72. I'd still prefer him to stay given he chose to activate his player option, I wouldn't be chipping in for him to play against us.

He took the option because he knows he'd take a huuuuuuge pay cut anywhere else.

Bennett obviously thought he could transition into a 6 or a 1 and sure, probably could have but hes been a massive waste of money. I know you can't predict injury but he arrived hurt and hasn't been healthy since.

He makes a decent fullback already, Bennett was hoping to use him as a ball playing lock. Yeah I know he's on more here than he'd get elsewhere, but the line I'd be taking if I were at the Broncos would be he obviously wants to be here enough to activate his player option, so he can stay and play some games for us or he can get a full release of his contract, but hosed if I'd be paying more than half his salary to have him play against us. Bird's on 900-950 as I understand it, if we covered 500k there'd only be 400-450 to buy a replacement, who can you get who's better than Bird for that much? Better to keep him on for this last year, if he plays well then good and if he doesn't at least we haven't subsidised his salary at another club so he could carve us up.
