In Month 7 of our Covid derail, we're seeing a lot of cracks in a lot of areas. I am going to restate something that I've been saying for a while -- EVERYTHING'S FUCKY. And there's nothing we can do to change that. We're all out of our comfort zones. We're all struggling with all of the changes that are seemingly happening in every facet of our lives right now. So take care of yourself, first. And take care of those you love. We're all struggling. We're all stressed. We're all about to go ballistic on all the other motherfuckers that are trying to make things even worse. Be kind. Listen and show understanding, even if you're faking it. The only way we get through this is by thinking and responding with thought-out answers, not allowing our stupid reptilian brains burn it all down. I missed the last couple pages of the September chat thread, and a few of you posted about real struggles. I feel for you. This is another chat thread. Talk about bullshit. Talk about feelings. We'll get through this.

Walmart has started just putting the boxes out in the display racks (where the assembled models usually go) - they're not even bothering to assemble a display model. But yes, it is, if you don't mind a Walmart special.

I built a fairly nice 26” hard tail in 2008. Chris King headset and hubs, Thomson stem and post, easton carbon fiber handlebars, to give you an idea. It’s used but in good condition. Would now be a good time to sell it off? Anything under, say USD800 and I’m just keeping it.

Okay I have a really terrible decision to make. Im on the looks for a 30k-35k nissan 370z nismo and just found a perfect specimen (Germany, 10k miles, driven only with leather gloves, garage and summer season car only) Now just for giggles I wrote an importer about the possibility to acquire a close to perfect NISSAN Skyline R34 GTT For the same price range and I just heard back today that it would absolutely be possible to import and convert (legalize for German TÜV and register) a very good specimen for my price range. Now I'm throwing my head around between the safe bet (370 nismo) and what my heart wants (the skyline) I absolutely am not dependent on the cars. I solely want them because I like them and I have plenty other options to get from A to B. However the skyline was never sold in continental Europe so the spare parts situation is a bit sketchy and everything has to be done by specialists that import the parts from Japan for a hefty bonus. Still it would be an R34 skyline in very good condition or a practically new 370 nismo. Really can't decide at the moment however I do have plenty of time to make up my mind.

The answer is almost universally no, but in this one specific case, it's really up to the other person whether we continue our friendship. My position hasn't changed. Theirs clearly has changed and/or they weren't being honest before today. Either way, I'm feeling the shun towards me for being a 'social justice warrior'. A GT-t is probably going to be more fun than a 370Z and be much easier to build for big power if that’s what you want to do. A 370Z isn’t going to break down and have the problems of a 20yo used performance car. As for parts, ask the guys importing the car. Here in NZ where we’ve been doing the JDM thing for decades, Skyline parts grow on trees. “Just get the GT-R!” lol, at this point that’s like telling someone don’t buy a 458, just get the F40. Dude just do it, we've said before that you don't owe family anything just because you're related. If your wife needs reassurance have her talk to a therapist I guarantee a therapist will tell her the same thing. The temporary "emotional baggage" pails in comparison to continuing a relationship with toxic people. Naturally she will feel bad about it at first, but those feelings will disappear with a little time. Been there.

The amount of people sick and dying, the loss of a normal life for everyone, the climate, the fear of the government with their incompetence and malice, all the injustice for the marginalized, all that poo poo weighs heavy on my mind causing stress and anxiety for our future

The importers originally were engine specialists and offer everything from street tuning to FIA approved motorsport conversions. They work together with Harlows Jap Autos and JM imports and a few others to get the cars from Japan to the UK which would be the point when my money comes in (as soon as the cars are in the UK and can be inspected) I feel in good hands with these guys but it's a different level of "oh God what am I doing" Than spending that money on a barely used EDM sportscar. To be honest I already know I will lay down a deposit to start the import process. There's still too much 16 year old me in my head.

A skyline turbo is at least not going to depreciate like a rock the “new” or newer 370 is, especially if the “new” z that comes out is retro and fire. I do t k ow the markets for r34s I have only been able to buy r33s bc of USA laws but it is still possible to get into a R32 or 33 GTR FOR 35-50k us or was 6 months ago. Prices are going up on everything cool daily. In the UK can’t you buy used cars rather cheaply? I’d be getting a hot hatch or something for nothing and getting a na r33 or something g to go wild with

The Z successor will not come to Europe actually. The 370z will be the last manual nissan sportscar sold here I'm from Germany and all the cool German cars have long gotten expensive too. There's no difference in buying a good skyline or a good 6 cylinder m3. Just more people have experience working on the m3 here. DM'd them on instagram (since their website is crap but their IG is very active) with "Hey, my bike got stolen, I'd love to get a gravel bike" "Sure, come on down to chat with us! The ones you want are out of stock but we're getting new ones". Fine, I go down to them, they're pretty busy but the guy behind the counter says "Awesome, we can get you sorted but we do all this over email". They haven't been super responsive over email since "it's been super busy" and we've gone back and forth over other options and sizes but it's glacial. From the last thread..Humphreys posted:If you need any service manuals/software/stuffs only accessible to service agents, let me know. I've still got a login for GSFS+. I may take you up on that, I typically calibrate TVs once I'm happy with the overall setup, but this looks very great straight out of the box, so once I get a little more comfortable with what I want to change, I'll probably circle back. Thanks for the offer! slidebite posted:Sweet! I heard that new high-refresh TVs basically are making dedicated "monitors" obsolete. C/D? I'm curious as to how this goes.. 65" would be a bit big for me but 43" or so could be do-able. I'm not actually using this as a monitor, but did pick the LG over the Sony A8H for the G-Sync, just in case I ever feel like hooking it up to see how it games. A friend has the same TV and has played games (other than FPS's) on it, and says the reaction time is negligible compared to say an Acer Predator, but it also only can do 120hz whereas dedicated gaming monitors can hit 144hz and 165hz if your video card can handle those frames. Applebees Appetizer posted:Nice, we just got the Sony OLED and it looks amazing. Spending almost 3 grand on it after taxes was a bit cringy for me, but since OLED are supposed to be way more reliable than LED, if it lasts a long time without any problems it's worth it. My last TV (Visio LED) lasted only a few years before it started having issues. I walked back and forth between the LG CX and the Sony A8H for about 20 minutes in the best buy, they're so close (I believe it's the same panel) it was extremely hard to pick. Sony has BY FAR the better 'in store demo' mode since they have Gran Turismo and other sony properties to show off, whereas LG had Project Cars and some no-name movie clips. I've also owned Sony TVs for the last 20 years. At the end of the comparison I decided i liked the look of the stand on the LG a little better, and the fact it has G-Sync (and probably Freesync soon through updates) coupled with the free set of LG bluetooth earbuds this came included with (along with my buddy owning two of these) was what swayed me. To speak to the comments about prices vs cheaper stuff in the same size: I can't imagine going back to a standard LCD TV now that I've had this since last Saturday, I finished setup & got all my cabling squared away just in time to christen it with, in this order: Lakers beating the Nuggets to move to the NBA Finals A pretty drat good UFC card (UFC 253) Empire Strikes Back in Dolby Atmos & Dolby Vision on Disney+ Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 4k HDR from Amazon (holy poo poo the blacks on this set are truly unbelievable) The native apps are fantastic, I had last purchased a new 1080p TV in 2013 and that's what this replaced, so being used to having to use Xbox/PS/HTPC/whatever to view stuff has changed to being able to swap between Amazon & Netflix & DirectTV with just a single discrete button on the remote is pretty great. I'm still figuring out the LG menu hierarchy, that's one thing that the Sony would likely have been more intuitive to me after so many years of owning their TVs. The monitor almost perfectly blocking out one of the 4-screens on Redzone here is a Dell 27" 4k Ultrasharp (so not exactly a small computer monitor) In Space, no one can hear you go 'Ahhhhhh no crushed blacks' Plan on needing at least 1 other person to help move this thing around.
