And the mercy seat is awaiting,
And I think my head is burning,
And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth,
And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

ben gibbard's been doing a ton of livestream shows (or at least was until he exhausted literally his entire catalogue, I guess). I wouldn't be shocked if this was a stream show. maybe the "meeting" bit is referencing a Zoom call or something

there's absolutely no way a 2020 Postal Service album would not be like Owl City levels of bad so I would much prefer this tbh

yeah I was coming back to say that upon reflection and being able to actually listen to the tweet, it's prob gonna be a zoom live instrumentation playthrough of the album. which is still fun.

Their last album was really good, and definitely a stronger effort overall than their last few (which weren't bad, but tended to lose steam after a side or so).

They're last album was absolutely dire. And I say this as someone who listens through every song on all their albums extremely regularly.

I dunno, I found it fairly dull overall and pretty same-soundy. The Painter and For Sure are the only real standouts for me so far.

I will fight you on this - Leather on the Seat is honestly one of the best songs that they've ever done. Some Kind of Solomon, You'll Need a Backseat Driver, and The Surprise Knock are also other stand outs.

Play Money, Whiteout Conditions, High Ticket Attractions and This is the world of the Theatre are all great songs. Then you have the rest of the album which does indeed suck. Then you have Morse Code, which is like a bunch of B-sides from the sucky part of Whiteout Conditions. I don't know how you can see it any other way.

Yeah how anybody can dislike that album is beyond me but musical taste is unfortunately subjective. The first three songs on Morse Code are as good as they get IMO

I love Whiteout Conditions.

Now, that's definitely one band where I went to their concert a couple of years ago, and the entire audience was full of dads. I was feeling my 34 years.
