kind of a blade runner feel?

Way back when I was 18 or so I would forego drinking beers some weekend nights to save cash (and also avoid the taxi fare) and drive out to the rock night in the next town over in my beat-up VW Camper van, then roll home at 3am with a bunch of drunk friends in the back. I would always drive back past this:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.5...56!9m2!1b1!2i23

and it would always spark my imagination, though its been much reduced now it used to be a sky full of tall masts with warning bulbs on the top, big buildings covered in white lights and huge flame stacks burning off into the night - so Blade Runner, I'd think.

Wasn't until years passed that I read that Ridley Scott was a local lad and used to pass by the same way as a young man, and it had totally inspired him.

And I'm not the only one

Based on listening to Steven Fry reading Sherlock Holmes Audible recommended me the Max Carrados stories (also read by Steven Fry).

They're like: "What if Sherlock Holmes was actually interesting and good and not just a loving cop?"

E: Also his superpower is blindness rather than cocaine and heroin?

see, the captain is fighting the bad guys, and i'm a stowaway, because i'm always stowing away, and i go "hoo boy, i'm just so tired of all the star treks"

It's a good thing they can't ruin the best one with a reboot.

Lipstick Apathy
Days after winning OASIS founder James Halliday’s contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything.

Hidden within Halliday’s vaults, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous—and addictive—than even Wade dreamed possible.

With it comes a new riddle, and a new quest—a last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize.

And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who’ll kill millions to get what he wants.

Wade’s life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.

Lovingly nostalgic and wildly original as only Ernest Cline could conceive it, Ready Player Two takes us on another imaginative, fun, action-packed adventure through his beloved virtual universe, and jolts us thrillingly into the future once again.

i finished Raised By Wolves. the first two episodes were great and of course it couldn't keep that up but it was still disappointing how far downhill it went. the mystery of the planet was boring because they obviously just wanted to string along the audience without actually doing anything. and let's have the guy go crazy for no reason except that otherwise there wouldn't be enough of a conflict.

really great premise and design and everything but too bad it couldn't've have a better story.

i was just gonna say that raised by wolves was dumb because its about magic space worms and religious nutjobs but thats basically what dune is, so its not the premise just the terrible, terrible, terrible execution.
