They couldn't trade him for anything because of his arbitration eligibility. Just let him go UFA, you can still make an offer. If JJ plays most or all his games in Hartford like noted salary cap dump Matt Belesky fine but they signed this guy as a free agent. He is gonna play NHL games and it’s gonna loving suck. I really wanted NYR to get someone on D because I didn’t want Smith out there every night and this is my monkeys paw scenario lol

I am slightly nervous about being excited for this Brodie signing since the Barrie one didn't work out well. But, I have faith that it will, because he's more of what the Leafs need. Even if Brodie is mediocre, he's a huge upgrade over Ceci playing on Rielly's other side.
