I kind of liked Sense8, though it is a bit difficult to follow. I think the payoff at the end of season 1 is worth it though. I'd say thematically it reminds me of his Rising Stars graphic novel.

Sense8 is fun nonsense, and worth watching until you feel like stopping, because if you're not totally on board then the end certainly won't change your mind.

I felt like stopping halfway through the first episode, so I did.

I really liked season 1 of Sense8 but didn't bother with season 2. Before I could start, I saw the news that the show was being canceled even though season 2 supposedly did not wrap up the storyline, so I just didn't bother to continue from there.

Sheridan and Garibaldi are both fundamentally conservative, just of a cleaner kind that isn't happy to embrace fascism - the kind that many conservatives imagine themselves to be. The Interstellar Alliance is Space NATO created by humans and in general there is a lot of positive human exceptionalism; only humanity has many diverse religions, only humanity could have created the Babylon Project, and if Earth isn't the best yet it's still the fastest rising power in the galaxy where the Minbari are senescent, the Centauri decadent and the Narn barbarous.

Babylon 5 is a story about a bunch of inevitable wars that pit Good vs. Evil. That moral simplicity and righteous violence is probably pretty tempting to a conservative mindset.

So the Drazi were still doing their election ritual thing during the shadow war right? Do you think one side fought on the Babylon 5 side, or did both of them? It's really funny thinking of them fighting and fighting until they exited hyperspace in B5 space, and then they had to stop immediately cause of Green Leader and Purple Leader (Ivanova).

Yeah it was very sudden but it was Good vs. Evil still. The Good of “freedom for your species to pursue its own destiny” vs. the Evil of “ancient species using you like pawns”. It was pretty clear cut, no grey area there.

Freedom is not inherently good, though. Freedom is the freedom to decide whether to be good or evil.
