Not sure what's happening in your shot exactly. e: It does seem to impede the pathfinding though, so I can't do an attack here because even though it's in my range there's no path to actually walk to that location -- they're blocked by a combination of the table/couch and the enemy:

I finally finished YS II after completing YS I a long time ago. I had played the Turbografx version of Ys: Book I & II back in the day and mistakenly thought that was also Ys I & II combined. So realizing I had actually only completed Ys I and had a whole other game with updated mechanics to play through came as a huge, fun surprise. The music and sprite design in this game is killer but that seems to be the norm with Falcom. After playing something else I'm gonna try and tackle Oath in Felghana.

The answer is almost always scheduling conflicts. it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case here too. Well, undoubtedly a lot of the voicework for this game got started after Covid hit, so if any voices sound weird/someone couldn't make it, that's a very possible reason why.

I just saw that Lechter might have changed too? I didn't see any confirmation on that though so hopefully it's a lie. On a side note, the game broke street date in the EU. Beware of spoilers.

The game industry has been booming this year because of the pandemic but developers have been struggling with getting voice actors and motion capture actors due to restrictions. I've gotten really used to the Japanese VA but i'm excited to see how the English VA and translations turned out compared to the fan translations. I really like how they put who the voice actor is in Japan when a character is introduced.

Man it's lucky this game allows for instant resets because it's not great to fight a penguin 3 times in a row and each time it goes first and does a big aoe attack that instantly kills the escort character and ends the fight.

Cool, nothing like replacing your big antagonist's voice actor on what should be the last game in the arc. Given the prevalence of home studios a lot of actors have (even if they are just a closet with some makeshift stuff used for sound proofing) it's weird they couldn't find a way to keep the cast. One character isn't a huge loss, but more than that and it sticks out quite bit. Especially on the last game, of all things.
