Really? From the article I'm reading the Chairman/CEO of US Concrete grew up next door to the Andrettis and they've been life long family friends, and it was Michael that called him to set up the sponsorship. https://www.mcall.com/business/mc-biz-us-concrete-bill-sandbrook-sponsor-marco-andretti-20190524-5wwppr6wszekdfc4ddf5usg74y-story.html

Yeah, supposedly he wanted to support an Andretti specifically and directly. The deal with Marco co-owning the car was tied to the sponsor wanting a guarantee he would be the driver. For their b2b purposes, it makes sense I guess. They don't really care if they finish last, being able to wine/dine clients and have their driver be "Andretti" probably has value.

https://twitter.com/IndyLights/status/1313887112551432197 Highlights/changes/improvements: - Dallara IL-15s getting titanium halos (good) - Indy Lights scholarship awarded to the Formula Regional Americas (F3 Americas) champ, Linus Lindqvist of Sweden (who won all but 2 races this year) - Both Kyle Kirkwood (Andretti) and the 2020 Pro 2000 champ (Sting Ray Robb of Juncos, more than likely) are both coming to Lights with Pro 2000 advancement scholarships - Top 3 in Lights championship guaranteed Indycar tests at Indy after the season - Lights champ scholarship upped from $1 million to $1.25 million, still guaranteeing 3 Indycar races with the Indy 500 No clue on car counts or schedule yet.

I know it hasn't exactly been a great year for Sipag, but is he really that close to the chopping block for Penske? I thought adding McLaughlin was just going to be jumping to four cars since the IMSA team isn't going to have anything to do now. What other free agents would be interesting to Penske?

The rumor for like 3 years was that he was always imminently signing with McLaren and/or already signed with them, even before they started sponsoring SPM. Pruett does seem to think ScottyMac is a new 4th car, so thats probably good news for both Simon and Will honestly. Although Penske expanding does raise some leader circle questions.

SiPag leaving Penske would cause a much bigger reshuffle though that could also be Helio or JPM coming back in for one year or so (until Penske shrinks back down and gets another sports car program).

Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but Homefield Apparel, who has some high quality college T-shirts, hoodies, etc for a ton of schools got an order for shirts for the 500. Sadly, the design had the original race date on them. They're selling those off for $30 with proceeds going to an Indianapolis charity helping out folks in the hospitality industry. https://www.homefieldapparel.com/pr...&pr_seq=uniform

https://racer.com/2020/10/13/oward-signs-new-deal-with-amsp/ Pato got an extension. 1 year deal, which was probably smart of Pato's agent to do considering the number of eyes that have been on him from Ganassi and Andretti and everyone else. If he runs well next year again, dudes gonna get paid.

Scotty Mac official for next year, and officially a 4 car operation. Also ending their Supercars "partnership" which iirc was really just a cross branding deal. https://twitter.com/Team_Penske/status/1319790738679488513

Also ending their Supercars "partnership" which iirc was really just a cross branding deal. could be Penske as much helping out DJR and keeping the lights on while also providing some sponsor money (Shell is a major partner of the truck rental business apparently, hence the sponsorships for Penske's racing) but yeah with GM pulling the plug on the Holden brand in total in Australia, Supercars is likely to be impacted pretty big going forward. I think it's been discussed but both Penske and Chip Ganassi are using staff and drivers that otherwise would be in sports cars in IndyCar for these bigger operations, so glad McLaughlin is getting the shot officially and full-time. Hopefully CGR doesn't drop to three cars and picks somebody up for the 10 car fully.

Well that was a mess with all those penalties. Will Power is 5 pole positions away from Mario Andretti. He made 5 this year alone. I wonder if he can beat the record in 2021, maybe 2022, or if he runs out of time at Penske and gets bounced before his time like Castronevez or Montoya.

This was a good race. People are mad on the internet at Sato, but honestly, throwing Marco into the tires and costing his team a million dollars was hilarious. Hinch, Daly, Power, and Rossi all wrecking themselves was clown shoes as well. Not sure what Herta's deal was, he had to use the runoff area like twice and took himself out of contention. It's been a wild season, and I'm glad Indycar was able to pull it off.
