Five degrees to starboard!

My last company was a very small startup. I was the 4th hire, and we grew to 40ish people before I left. For the last ~year of my employ there, I told them time and again that they needed someone to focus on their infrastructure, and I volunteered to be that person. In January, for a number of reasons, I left. It's vindicating to see that they've finally posted a job opening for Devops Manager. I considered applying as a joke, but it's not worth the effort.

In other news, I'm really enjoying this used 3D printer I got. I put Octoprint on a Raspberry Pi I had kicking around, and I'm having a lot of fun just letting it do its thing on the shelf near my desk. Now I need to model a spice rack for the kitchen to justify the space it takes up.

Uughh just found out they’re moving our most experienced team member with the highest work load to the new payroll software transition team so he won’t be working with us anymore. We JUST hired two people to bolster our team, which wasn’t even enough to get back to 100% staffed, AND our supervisor just left us two weeks ago. I get that you need experienced heavy hitters to get the already four months delayed system working correctly, but drat don’t take all of them and leave a team of people that mostly just joined THIS year to pay tens of thousands of people across three countries.

Yeah I always hated sweets when I was drinking. And even the first two years sober I never liked it, but recently I've started liking sweets.

I quit smoking tobacco/vaping back in January so I can actually taste stuff now. Idk what it is but yeah I love ice cream now.

I mean alcohol really is just sugar when you think about it. It makes sense.

I thought i was over it but I guess not :(

This is why I stopped dailying my Miata and bought a hatchback then traded for a midsized sedan. Once I realized truck bumpers were at head height and a soft top does jack poo poo for protection I started to get worried. I'm even more aware of safety now after my interstate rear-ender last year.

Pros: cast my vote, picked up my new glasses (that I ordered 3 weeks ago :sigh:). New glasses definitely feel better; left lens is a touch stronger, right lens is a touch weaker. I can actually read my phone without taking them off! Both eyes are at the same strength for the first time ever (my right eye has always needed a slightly stronger lens).

Cons: Brokeback started shaking pretty loving violently on the highway on the way back, but only on the gas (even slightly, though). I'm getting angry CV joint noises turning either direction now. It's also a giant vibrator at idle now (not a "these motor mounts need attention sometime soon", more of a "shake your drat fillings out") - thinking what was left of a motor mount let go and made the angles all fucky. The mounts were already "mounts? you're lucky the engine even sits level" before.

BajaHAHAHA.

Angry CV's can definitely cause a shake in the auto subies. Next time it does it try rolling forward really slowly, sometimes there's a spot where it stops the shake. But otherwise, yeah you'll need an axle sooner than later. Junkyard oem might be the best bet, the aftermarket ones are known to be iffy in terms of longevity and vibration at stops.

Any (mostly Aussies?) opinions on KMAC stuff? I need more camber on my Chevy Commodore for my next set of track tires, and using offset bolts means I won't have enough clearance between the strut and tire. KMAC makes adjustable strut mounts & offset lower bushings, but their website is very geocities and the products aren't cheap enough to just gamble on.

Related, got 11 track days out of a set of Hankook RS4s with somewhat low camber settings (-1.5 front, -.8 rear) but chunked one outside edge down to cords, and everything else is at the wear bars. Thinking NT01s for my next set, but that means more camber to align with the extra grip and avoid just killing the outside edges.

He's a sweet rear end in a top hat of a cat. His original owner abused him. We rehabbed his brain and he's now a sweet cuddly boy. He's an empath, when I'm in a bad place, he paws his way into my lap and purrs until I can calm myself. But he's also been a headache because he persists in peeing outside his litter box. We currently have four huge boxes for him to choose from and he is still having issues. He's had dozens of tests and been to a behavior specialist. We have literally spent thousands of dollars on this cat between replacing things he's destroyed and trying to treat him.

And an hour ago, I went upstairs to clean the blue room I just installed the new laminate in and discovered that he had peed in numerous spots over the last 48 hours. It had been long enough that it has soaked in, destroying at least 20 boards. This is going to require ripping out the entire floor carefully as to not break the good panels and then reinstalling it with new pieces. Hours of work and a couple hundred dollars gone.

I think we have to get rid of him now and it's going to break my heart. But I don't think I can carry on with this in my current declining mental state.

We've tried everything. We've tried every type of dry and wet food we can source. The vet thinks it's just behavior issues stemming from his kitten days. He's been medicated several times and nothing has changed. A few years ago he sprayed into our entertainment center while we were out of town (my sister came and fed them) we discovered he'd totally saturated an Xbox and all the games next to it. Like, SOAKED. And I still forgave him.

I wasn't really clear how bad he was when we got him, he was pretty much feral. We'd actually gotten him back in the carrier after he'd slashed my arm open. But then he cried so pathetically so I let him out and like an hour later he came up to me and put his paw on my leg and I was done for.

Aww gently caress, that really sucks. I don’t suppose they’d do well as an outdoor cat?

It makes me so angry to hear about animals that were abused, sorry you have to go through that. The peeing everywhere is definitely not a cat’s normal nature (let me tell you about what happens when I leave oil cleanup litter out at the shop...) and you’re right to look at the root cause.

Sorry man...

Rosie does this too, the frequency seems to be tied to her emotional state. Fortunately I don't care about the flooring upstairs, and the flooring downstairs is going to be Lifeproof vinyl when I redo it and she moves down there.

It's a pain in the loving rear end though, if I discard a piece of clothing or something on the floor it'll be soaked in piss the next morning, I had to go to work one day reeking of cat piss because she pissed on my uniform, and my backup had just gotten ripped badly the day before.

At least I got her to stop pissing the drat bed.

If I’d been in anything smaller during my recent accident I probably would have been killed. And of course practically everything is smaller than a crew cab F-150.

So the thought of replacing it with something like a 2021 2 door Bronco gives me a bit of anxiety. I think I’ll probably get over it though.

Yeah if I would have been in my '97 wrangler for my accident I'd be dead for sure.

Went six hours of uninterrupted sleep for the first time since surgery, and on only a half shot of hydrocodone! The pain I woke up with was exquisite! Took fully 40 minutes for another half shot to break through. Along with it was four ibuprofen, an ice-down, and numbing throat spray, but I do dare say I’m starting to feel normal again. I get my septoplasty stents out later this morning and my final procedure - a balloon sinuplasty. It’s like getting your HVAC ducts cleaned out, but inside your face. Should be fun.
