Maybe they'll focus on the criminal cases going forward? The season finale is this week, isn't it?

The Vow, the most unexpected Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and Superman spinoff.

Hes being sentenced at the end of this month so Im not even sure what else they could cover?

Maybe Mark and Co. are working on getting the cult totally dissolved and any remaining followers out?

I dont know, its really baffling.

I realized though that I just didn't care what was happening, none of it is scary or creepy, it's just pure misery porn. And it certainly doesn't help that I find the little girl extremely irritating, and that Henry Thomas's English accent is just really really bad.

Edit: Just saw that AVclub gave the penultimate episode a D+

It’s like they wanted a Scientology docuseries but couldn’t get it for whatever reason, so they bought the store brand version instead.

Which isn’t to diminish the horrific nature of what the cult put those people through, but my god is that documentary dull as all hell.

I thought Bly Manor was pretty good but it is not scary at all, it's more like Crimson Peak in that regard. I understand how it's not for everyone and that many people might find it boring but calling it "misery porn" is pretty mind-boggling, especially if you didn't make it to the end (though I found the ending pretty hopeful in contrast to most people apparently).

I thought that playing up the kids being precocious and giving them an in-universe reason for it was very funny. Although I thought the season finale's story was the most interesting in the whole series and I kind of wish the show was more about that. Overall it was a solid 8 for me.

Is the original Dawn of the Dead available anywhere? I don’t see any streaming options and it isn’t available on dvd through Netflix.

Seems like a high profile movie to not have any options to watch it. I can always get it though the library I guess

I think Babylon Berlin is a real mixed bag too. Parts of the show are brilliant. The production design is lavish and I enjoy the background historical subplot. The main detective part though... Season 3 ended on a moronic exposition dump from the perpetrator himself because he’s crazy and jealous, see, and that’s his motivation. So disappointed in that.

I haven't been watching the show, but did the first season leave much to go into even? It's a story that's kind of over now, so unless the pacing is even slower than I've heard, do they still have material?

Stealing from the replies, but they're probably going full The Staircase. Just roll around in courtroom footage and minutiae and you can make a really long-rear end documentary that no one will want to watch. It sucks to hear that they went this dumb route with it. I followed the NXIVM stuff when it was happening and it was interesting and unnerving, but there's only a few hours at most worth covering and even that would mostly be reflective of how a seemingly bland executive "enrichment" thing could lead so easily to an outright cult.

How do you like endless video of the same 4-5 people email and texting each other the same basic sentences? Sometimes they talk to someone new then we get to read every email and text regarding that person they talked to that didn't have anything really new to say.

The first few episodes were fascinating as they went into how hosed up the cult was, which we got a lot out of because the cult members tried to make a documentary, so there is a TON of footage.

But the last few episodes has just been introducing the audience to new former cult members who were screwed over, and we get their entire backstory. In the end it's just a lot of them reacting to text messages on their Macbook Pros.

I felt like that the past two eps before this one but this one really digging into Keiths absolutely hosed up and twisted version of gender studies kind of brought it back a bit more to the feeling of earlier episodes.

Keith just feels like a more obviously cult like Jordan Peterson at this point.

Has anyone used AMC+ through the Prime app? I signed up for a trial so I could watch Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter and it had these weird fade outs and fade ins seemingly mid scene like they were supposed to be ad breaks. The end credits also appeared to be fast forwarded. It wasn’t a full on TV edit because there were boobs in it but it seemed off. Are those things in the original movie?

Sorry if this has been covered, but is The Outpost just jingoistic garbage that treats the Afghanistan war as simply a state of nature in which "our heroes" eternally battle the Islamic horde? It's gotten great reviews, but depth isn't exactly Netflix's strong suit.

It's a regular movie, not a Netflix-produced movie. It felt 50/50 on the point you're asking about to me. It did enough to display how pointless it all was but it still ends with the scroll saying how many people got a Purple Heart or whatever. In the end I think I landed negative on it as a whole, because it's thrilling and well-made and Caleb Landry Jones is great but the true story that it's based on is soul-crushing to me.

The film doesn't really explore the question of whether or not the US should be there. It does touch on how pointless / fruitless it was to even have an outpost in this area though- but that's a more tactical consideration than ethical.

It's a really well done film about combat. If that doesn't interest you on its own I'd say skip.
