btw they’re using jimmy fallon’s unused studio 6B for almost half of the band to play, since they can’t safely get them all on home base.

The Montreal news was honestly the best sketch this season. It's not saying that much, though.

Weekend Update stumbled a bit at first, but then stumbled and fell hard into hilarious. Toward the end, it was one knee slapper after another. And this eBay commercial... hilarious. It should've been right after the monologue.

Yeah. This is still a good cast but the writing had been lazy and awful for awhile now. The hit ratio is so low it's just not worth it.

There's been no memorable debate sketches in this election cycle and I'm willing to bet there won't be. Holy poo poo Adele!

BigBallChunkyTime posted:To be fair, how do you make things any more ridiculous in a comedy show than they are right now in real life? Yeah, this was what I was going for. That first debate was already so absurd, there's no real way to make it more absurd. I suppose when reality is absurd, absurdist humor would invoke normalcy. They should do a debate sketch where the candidates follow the rules and answer the questions with substantial answers. Probably framed with some alternate dimension thing, or PSA. Kind of like Al Gore's cold open where he talked about how great everything was going with him as president.

Which is why they should be avoiding it, like the Plague. Honestly, as far as I can tell, the only thing they get out of having Baldwin on every week is occasionally getting dragged on the POTUS' social media. It's not funny, after the 2016 season it should have been obvious that it wasn't shifting the Zeitgeist, and as has been said: it's just berries.

Ok so this is from last week and I know we kinda did the Bill Burr thing to death already, but this came up on my YouTube feed today and regardless of which side you fall on wrt him, I think it’s definitely worth a listen to. I’m not the biggest fan of Burr’s stand up but the stuff I’ve heard of him just talking I like more. So this is 20 minutes of a guy talking from the heart about just how much it meant to him to host the show. https://youtu.be/GVVP08HxaIs

Hype! Promo from earlier this week. They never officially uploaded it, so I had to do it myself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGK070tOD3A Nice! Thursday promos with Kate! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqPHZi3GlyE Wow! Cut for time last week! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p17zyrxp5Do Neat fact: This sketch wasn't set to be cut after dress. It was in the rundown for the live show, in act 9, the five-to-1 slot, followed by the eBay commercial (which did air.) It was dropped as the air show ran long. There were two dress cuts, a pretape called “Ring Commercial” (unknown if “Ring” refers to the jewelry or the doorbell camera,) and a live sketch, “Commercial Shoot.” Thanks to my buddy JS for this info! Also, you may recognize the last shot of that hype promo above. The producer went back to her appearance five years ago in November 2015 and grabbed raw camera footage originally used in this live tease before her first song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVD-e7Mucv0 And guess what episode is tonight's Vintage? It's Kate Hudson and Radiohead from October 14, 2000. This episode was covered on the most recent episode of That Week in SNL, which you can listen to here or wherever you consume your podcasts, if for some reason you aren't already a regular listener.
