I've been slowly watching star trek next generation for the first time, I put on then play some harvest moon

this afternoon I watched the episode where dimensional terrorists are warping around blowing poo poo up. despite the federation non-interference thing, the crew of the enterprise instantly side with the obvious fascists to the point of having the head fascist hang out in the main pilot area. picard watches the fascist shoot and martyr the freedom fighter dude, then everyone teleports back to the enterprise and fucks off having made everything 100 times worse

the federation is pretty obviously a bunch of pansy-rear end NPR style liberals because their first and most important rule is "don't interfere with anybody else's business, no matter how bad it is" rather than like "protect life" or something

they just constantly ignore worf even though he's nearly always right

whenever there's an unknown ship he recommends they fire a spread of photon torpedoes, picard always overrules him, and OH NO it turns out they were hostile and now riker is in a space jail and troi is pregnant with an alien baby or something

Lmao yes I just rewatched both of those episodes recently. 1 of which involved all these genetically engineered humans who calculate that there is going to be a lot of federation life loss in their battle against the dominion so they decide to leak all federation documents to the dominion.

The more gross one is Bashir does some surgery to help one of the genetically engineered humans, and then starts a relationship with her.
