Jabari Smith committed to Auburn, would top Sharife Cooper as the highest rated recruit in school history (#5 overall, #1 PF).

Yeah, the noose comments seem to be the driving force behind this. I get the idea of what he was trying to say (stop being so stressed, relax a bit) but that is one hell of an idiom he went with.

If Chambers gave a real apology and had a honest self-reflection moment, he maybe could have survived all of this. But he decided to double down on coach speak instead, rip

He got the ball rolling but sounds like they heard similar stuff from other players once they started to look into it.

Yikes.

I do like that this was apparently sort of an open secret and the only thing that ever came of it until now was vague whispers about the real reason he couldn't get a major conference job. I'm sure knowing he wasn't at indiana or whatever making even more money was a comfort to the kid he was choking

You could never get away with screaming at players and choking them at Indiana.

Yeah at this point there's no reason to work with the NCAA. Recruits have clearly gotten over the allegation, and they aren't actually softer on teams that cooperate so why bother.

Chambers is gone because they've allegedly been paying the players from Roman Catholic. Rest of the team came to his defense over the noose stuff, and that's just a smokescreen.

That event in Orlando that ESPN cancelled is more or less being replaced with a four-team thing in Fort Myers also featuring Auburn and Gonzaga, and now adding Kansas and St. Joe's. Think it's four scheduled over three days, not a tournament with winners/losers matching up.

I guess nobody mentioned this but Silvio De Sousa, the one that got Kansas in trouble (well to be fair his guardian did) left Kansas a few days ago.

Today it came out that he got in a fight outside a bar in January and the other guy is pressing charges for his re-arranged face.

Thus ends the illustrious career of Silvio De Sousa and I no longer feel sorry for him.

If you can't remember who his is...

Yeah, that one would've been a great one if there were going to be crowds (especially now I'm back at UVA and probably could have found a way in) but I'm not sure what places like the JPJ are going to be like empty.

In general I think this schedule skews pretty firmly in the Big Ten's favor.

It's amazing what they can do with computers these days.

Iowa State projected to be bad again. Assuming they don’t over-perform, this is probably Prohm’s last year. Team has gotten worse every year. Well maybe he gets a COVID reprieve, but I kinda doubt it.

Auburn projected in the 80s by Kenpom. On one hand, it's an absurdly young team and it's not like they haven't started slow in recent years but on the other this is by far the most raw talent Pearl has had yet at Auburn so I feel like they have to put together something better than that over the course of the season.

Yeah seems like a win-win, if he plays himself into a one-and-done lottery pick we're probably doing fine; if not he comes back and we get another year of him and Chris Moore and JT Thor with seasoning plus Jabari Smith coming in.
