Every single year the Ivy League takes a break from fucking up the world through its various alumni to fuck up everyone's bracket instead.
Imagining the White Sox top brass gathering together to discuss the managerial vacancy, getting into heated debates over this candidate or that, and finally someone saying the fateful words, I wonder what La Russa is up to? And then a record-scratch jump cut to the Phoenix courtroom

Wrigley is conveniently located right next to Boystown, which would turn TLR to dust if he tried driving through it.

You double-check your mask is in place and hop onto the bus. Can't believe your boss still thinks you really need in-person coverage 24/7, but whatever. After you beep your card, you look back and mentally groan, some drunk hobo in the back is ranting and raving. You make sure to avoid eye contact, grab a seat, and pull one earbud out, just to keep aware in case he starts escalating. At least the smell isn't too bad, just pee no poop.

But what's that he's yelling about? Manfred? Bat flips? The right way to play? You brave a longer glance at the hobo... could it be? Yes! Red-faced, filthy, holding a paper bag, and performing some truly death-defying drunken swaying as the bus starts and stops - Tony is here, on his way home from the game. He had a hard day at work, too.

In non TLR news former Giant Mac Williamson is suing his former team, alleging his career was ruined because of a head injury he got tripping over the bullpen mound in foul territory, that the Giants knew was unsafe:

Dereck Rodriguez signed a minors deal with the Rockies. Dude had a great rookie season despite mediocre stuff and peripherals, then fell off a cliff. Hope he can make it back to the big leagues.

I'm thinking free agency is gonna be kinda boring this year. There's not a Harper/Cole/Machado who everyone has to wait for them to set the market. No $300 million, franchise-altering deals this year. Here's the MLBTR FA predictions for reference: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/11/mlb-free-agent-predictions-2021.html and they have Bauer getting the biggest contract at 4/128. I'm thinking the top 5-10 guys sign quickly and then everyone else either accepts a one-year deal or holds out until March for multiple years, andsome of them end up taking minor league contracts.

I will say there's some interesting SPs out there. Tanaka, Waino, Minor... Really want the Giants to bring back Drew Smyly.

https://twitter.com/fuzzyfromyt/status/1326215353236512769

e: For anyone who doesn't want to click through, Bauer basically says the Astros had their shame tour and it's time to move on which is fiercely at odds with how people actually feel since there were no fans in the stands to boo them this season

Managers of the year are Kevin Cash and Don Mattingly. By far the silliest award MLB gives out, seems appropriate they'd give one to the manager who's team experienced the largest COVID outbreak.
