I mean the incredibly common interpretation is that the snake is a manifestation of the devil, who is himself a fallen angel. Or you could call people liars and idiots, I guess.

You know what book you should read? Is Everyone Really Equal, it will help you so much on this.

I am going to throw a small bone here, Ibram Kendi argues that everyone has racist beliefs and that everyone should be examining the ways they view people and groups of people in the world. Still racism as it exists in the United States is about power structures.

quote:

People were copy-and-pasting the definition to her in an attempt to prove racism could only exist if you believe your race to be superior to another.

...

On 28 May, Ms Mitchum emailed Merriam-Webster to point out that racism is "both prejudice combined with social and institutional power. It is a system of advantage based on skin colour".

To her surprise, she got a response the next day. After some back-and-forth, Merriam-Webster said the "issue needed to be addressed sooner rather than later" and that a revision would be made.

Merriam-Webster's editorial manager Peter Sokolowski told the BBC that the wording of the second definition of racism will be "even more clear in our next release".

"It could be expanded ... to include the term systemic and it will certainly have one or two example sentences, at least," he said.

The dictionary disagrees with you lol

Oh, my native language is spoken by a relatively small group of people, so it is unlikely you know it, but the heathen thing was a joke, based on the context of arguing about the Bible, you see. And it is, again, amusing that you choose to expound with the seeming might of the Pope himself (herself?) that there is no "textual evidence" in the Bible about this or that, given that it has been used and abused to justify all sorts of things. And you still didn't actually address the point that it's not "Neil Gaiman book" that came up with this crazy idea, it's as much a part of Western literary tradition as Santa Claus. Although, again, I suppose it's a sad thing you've not encountered the works of John Milton before :( And, spoiler alert, I don't mean the character in that Al Pacino movie!
