Some of their later stuff goes a bit too far up their own rear end with the symphonic stuff IMO, but Communion is rad as hell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKevUGKPtIQ Also, they're not like a full symphonic band, but Sear Bliss has an actual real Trombone player as a permanent member and they're cool as hell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHt7j83ASPQ And an obscure grind/death project called Fist in Fetus, reminds me of the Shade Empire clip there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3rL1OEUbdU Dimebags Brain fucked around with this message at 06:48 on Nov 14, 2020 |

This is supposed to be the worse sax solo on the planet and it STILL improves the song!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt76-vvCGWs&t=57s Dimebags Brain posted:Check Rotting Christ's contemporaries Septic Flesh. I posted a month or so ago about my friend from Spain who had done a solo melodic album, few people listened and liked it. He actually has a brand new project called Ad Libitum that is going to be debuting a new song on Monday. Diego is really pumped about this group and it's a collection of some of the best musicians from Galicia Spain. Here is a link to a clip of their song Invictus on FB https://fb.watch/1MmfLYNENm/ Here is their youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2MWObmsYsw-VVPBUHsf5Bw Invictus is going to debut in ~ 36 hours. I haven't heard the song yet but the clip I heard was great.

Not the best sound quality, but Metallica released a live show from The Metro in Chicago on their first US tour opening for Raven in 1983. Definitely the earliest show from all of the live sets they've been releasing in quarantine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abDLUhw-53w Obscene Extreme Fest has a lot of 3 song clips from various performances over the years, the Napalm Death ones are good, and there's lots of bands where their performance there is the best sounding live stuff they have, like Rompeprop & Flagitious Idiosyncrasy in the Dilapidation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Q6BYV9k9c4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUlTUjbWhMs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrEA_2qWVhQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwvHKYnI88w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvhLQiUOvqE Keep it True Festival have been posting "TV specials" periodically that recap a couple of KIT festivals apiece with a mixture of organizer/band interviews and performances, they also have a couple full performances on their YouTube page like this Manilla Road show as well as Mark Shelton tribute show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj21REqWlVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_Vft6q8DTY This one has a Brocas Helm performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqK3kIVo5v0&t=1732s Knotfest has been uploading some concerts, but most of them are taken down after a day or two, they still have this Meshuggah show from 2019 and an upload of the Type O Negative DVD After Dark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESSOqLY8a1k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIZwTJbgoDc Mayhem uploaded their show from Brutal Assault where they played Die Mysteriis in full: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukARfq1sK6s Brutal Assault have their own page but it's all clips no full sets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikUWUB8bme4 Bloodstock have a fair amount uploaded to their channel as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U2cVY71bM0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZTJg7MXQMg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKAGz4IFYxk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTuJqVdeHrw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPRBpKybx_U Hellfest are another one that have a good channel with some full sets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxttZ4EFZ14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_EubUU0oTk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-LgfO-D4bg

Oh hey my quest for symphonic death/black metal led me to a newly released album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3fX69YlPcY I always forget these guys exist because any time I try to recall Mors Principium Est, my brain morphs the latin gibberish into Omnium Gatherum and I go listen to those dudes instead. This isn't quite as heavy on the orchestrations as the stuff we were doing upthread but they sprinkle plenty in. edit: VVV "Ad Lib", really? lol Zero VGS fucked around with this message at 20:15 on Nov 16, 2020 |

Metal band VHS home videos really are a lost art. I remember when it seemed like every band had one, especially in the hair metal era. Also a 900 number you could call where you'd pay like $2/minute just to hear a pre-recorded message. I always wondered how much bands actually made from those.
