Watched There Will Be Blood. I appreciated the scene in which Daniel Day-Lewis' ruthless capitalist character explicitly admits he's a hateful psychopath that only wants to get rich so he can dominate everyone around him. Too bad they left out the parts from the book where the oil workers unionize and the guy's son becomes a socialist.

Some Guy TT posted:so i was wondering if anyone had actually read either of these books or even heard of them i dont have a clue how much cultural penetration they had even in the very narrow context of the pretentious graphic novel community I just looked them up and they're so obscure and bad nobody even bothered to pirate them not to say there isn't a lot of altright bullshit in comics but it's mostly indie publishers who raise money on indiegogo

i was flipping channels last night and landed on planes, trains, and automobiles. i always cry at the end when they "actually...." about Del's life. It's one of my favorite twists in any movie ever.

Just watched the Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby movie High Society. The movie made me angry overall because gently caress these rich people. The song numbers were good which redeems the movie. The Crosby/Sinatra duet is a delight. https://youtu.be/KQoszMqQ7mw

I watched The Social Network, which I hadn't seen before, and I deeply appreciated how much this movie from 2010 accurately depicted everyone involved in creating Facebook as an enormous rear end in a top hat.

Immortal Hulk is fun. Sort of feels like a good 1990s Vertigo comic. I'm 26 issues in, and it's interesting to see what criticisms of capitalism are allowed, and how they are presented.

IMO a lesser movie would have noted he was a lawyer and have him do some courtroom stuff to the cia goons who were after him but i think the movie very wisely instead has him trick the trigger-happy CIA men into getting in a shootout with a mob boss who had an unrelated tape- it almost doesn't work but one of the goons can't help himself and tries to strong arm the mafia men and it turns into a bloodbath Panzeh has issued a correction as of 00:44 on Nov 20, 2020 |

my favorite part of enemy of the state is how the politician that gets whacked is a republican because back then republicans were more likely to say domestic spying is bad a close second is when we find out the main villain was more mad about being denied a promotion due to being incompetent than he was about his actual stated motive

huh i didnt realize that movie was available in english language territories now i described it back when it came out as kind of like a vietnam war movie except told from the side of the vietnamese which is definitely a cool concept although i have no idea how much of that was intentional and how much of it just came up naturally from the real life historical background
