it was actually a prank pulled by Jon Daly in 2014 that people thought was real for a couple days before everyone wised up.

The B-Side is the insane track he did after getting into a Twitter slapfight with Lil Xan.

I figured it was some kind of joke because it mentions California constantly. I just figured it was RHCP having a sense of humor about themselves. Looks like I was wrong.

Unrelated to all this, but does anyone have a beat up copy of Magical Mystery Tour I can buy from you for cheap? I don't care about the record, I just need the cover. And the cover doesn't even have to be pristine. I'm just looking for one that doesn't have mold, water damage, or is falling apart. Shelf wear and saw cuts or whatever are no big deal.

How bad is the cover? Would you mind showing me a picture? I don't even care about he book all that much. Basically what my deal is is that I have a pretty good copy of the mono version but the cover is filthy with mold so I can't want to clean the record and put it in that cover.

My udiscover orders began moving a couple days ago as well, so I think it's just massive backlog. One is even supposed to be delivered today via UPS for whatever reason. The smaller single CD order is coming though the regular mail.

I think the damage came out to about $105 after tax, with the White Album box being $45 of that. I'm pretty happy.

Once again Magical Mystery Tour comes out to laugh at me. I have too goddamn many copies of MMT. I might have listed them before but here's what they are:

Two Capitol stereo pressings.
The Capitol mono LP
The MoFi LP
The original mono UK EP
The mono CD

I'm not sure if there's a mono UK LP as the full album version was originally a US release. The UK EP was the first MMT release as it was just the songs from the TV special. So the LP is technically a compilation album. A bunch of the B-side is just stuff they recorded during the Sgt. Pepper sessions and didn't use on that album but it's very cohesive. I guess all that's left for me is the Hor Zu release and then I'll probably sell or give away the other stereo versions I have.

I'm not sure why this became the album I have that many copies of. I didn't just keep upgrading from lovely copies, the ones I had were good. But in fairness to me the two Capitol stereo discs were given to me as gifts. The only other album I have more than two copies of is Their Satanic Majesties Request I have four, but that's because I kept trying to find better copies as the ones I had weren't all that great. By some miracle I found a UK second pressing at a flea market and the guy sold it to me for cheap. It's a VG+ so my quest is over. I'm pretty sure it's from the same lacquers as the first pressing too so that's as good as it gets. Oddly I've never had this kind of trouble getting nice copies of any other album.

Speaking of the Beatles didn't there used to be a Beatles megathread in NMD? I can't find it in my bookmarks or the forum anymore. A tweet about Paul McCartney and John Lennon jacking it together is making the rounds on Twitter again and I remember that thread having the full excerpt from a book where Paul goes into vivid detail about their circle jerk club.

What I recall from the story, Paul, John and some other mates would sit in a dark room and call out names of hot girls to fantasize while jacking it. And John, being John, liked to ruin everyone’s boners by regularly calling out the names of grannies and hambeasts and the like.

Yeah I remember when Paul first talked about that he mentioned that John would say Winston Churchill. Anyway, technology has made it so guys just don't want to have circlejerks with their friends anymore and I think as a society we're all worse off for it.

Goodbye stealing souls, hello stealing booty.
Not impressed with my Carly Rae Jepson albums that just arrived. Each one has at least one track that either skips or gets stuck. Amusingly one of them skips the chorus of one song every time.

I'm new to this, so what is the standard procedure for dealing with issues like this? They all got dusted when I first put them on.

I got the two Eno albums I ordered from uDiscover today. Thankfully they don't seem to be marred by the snap, crackle, pop issues people have widely reported. But my copy of Discreet Music is basically concave. The copy of Ambient 4 was light this slightly so I'm thinking it was a shipping problem because they jammed two LPs into one of those lovely thin mailers.

Unless there's some kind of hard debris stuck to the record (which does happen once in a blue moon) they could just be bad pressings which is not something you can fix. Give the discs a close physical inspection and look for anything unusual and then give them a cleaning. If that doesn't solve the problem it's just a lovely record. Ask for an exchange or a refund.

The 'new to this' bit makes me ask the following, please don't be offended if it's not the case - just need to remove the #1 cause of these issues first: are you using a Victrola/Crosley suitcase turntable to play this back on?

I'm using my parents old Sony. It hasn't had problems like this with records new or old before.

Does static cause problems? These records are super staticy when I pick them up.

Can anyone identify what would cause this distortion?
https://vocaroo.com/19yFjTqVIh7y

I've been noticing it lately on certain parts of certain albums. For example, the first 2/3 of that mp3 is the first track from my brand new pressing of My Generation, and it sounds very bad. The other song in the mp3 is the first track of side B, and I don't notice any of the same distortion on it.

I first noticed this on The Chats album I got a while back. Half-way through one side, it would start to get distorted in the same way. I thought it was a bad pressing or something. I believe there was another album I've noticed it on that I can't remember, so I've pretty much ruled out bad pressings as the source.

I'm using an AT95E cart, which is a few years old now but doesn't have THAT many hours on it. This is on a Dual turntable and I haven't gone through the trouble of moving the cart to another turntable because it's not an easy swap.
