Yeah killing the spiders is easy... in Phase 1. In Phase 2 when she is nuking you with space glaciers constantly it is much, much harder to keep a wide berth and peel spiders off from the pack. Find a way to circumnavigate them means you have way fewer 5-6 minute attempts and more 1-2 minute attempts.

just did Chalice Rom last night! i've been going through the dungeons milking as much game out of Bloodborne as possible and i love how claustrophobic the dungeons are, but they do get repetitious and trying after a while. def need to take breaks, and i'm also not stoked to learn that one of the trophies is going to require me to play through the cursed/defiled/whatever dungeons at half health.

anyway here's me finally beating Rom after a few attempts. watching it is painful bc i play very sloppily. but frick no don't kill the baby spiders, it's just not worth it. also don't hit Rom in the face/head as it seems to only do a fraction of the damage. good luck VG

There are three waves of spiders. The first wave spawns with Rom. If you do enough damage to Rom before she makes her initial teleport then the other two waves will drop simultaneously.

Use a wiki to compare with what you have. Beast claws are only found in a chalice dungeon, everything else should be purchaseable. Burial blade will need to be gotten in NG+ so you may want to save that for last.

Bloodbourne was my first Platinum it seems according to psnprofiles. 1 month 5 days.

Compared to sekiro platinum which took me 3 weeks 2 days.

I don't know if I'll attempt the platinum for demon souls if you still have to do the farming when I finally get a ps5.

Demon's has a new trophy list so you don't have to do all the weapon upgrades but you do have to farm a pure bladestone (the drop rate was fixed) and a new item for a new ring.

More specifically its probably getting close enough to your quest marker than the minimap symbol is changing from an arrow for direction to a dot for location. IIRC there is an accessory that makes a noise when you are near a card, but if you dont have it equipped it wont be that.

Although it does remind me that in Yakuza... I think it was 3, I was getting really wound up trying to work out what a particular sound was. It only played in certain locations, but not all the time. And I couldnt work out what it was supposed to signify. Sometimes there were baddies nearby, but then sometimes there wasnt. There werent any collectables I could see, and the collectables I'd found elsewhere didnt have a sound. I couldnt find what the common feature was and it was driving me up the wall. Turns out I just hadnt ever heard japanese traffic lights before, it was the sound they played to tell people it was safe to cross the road.

it is both a monkey and a boombox
Finished Dark Souls!

Really glad I finally got around to playing through it. Goes to show that masterfully designed games age gracefully.

My favorite takeaway: Exploring and "unlocking" the world felt amazing and natural. I played Bloodborne first and I would say the two are about equal in this sense, though I did like how Firelink serves as a home-base and intersection point for all these different areas. Bloodborne had the Hunter's Dream but it obviously wasn't a physical cog in the world like Firelink.

One negative takeaway: It does seem like they've made a lot of quality of life improvements in the newer games. I don't really like instant-death pits in boss arenas or long boss run-backs. Sekiro is the best example of this where the path to the boss is a challenge, but then there's always a super snappy bonfire nearby for when you die.

I was going to do the dlc but then NG+ started right after the final boss fight, which I should have expected since Bloodborne did the exact same thing. Might play a bit of NG+, but my real next stop is Demon Souls on PS5 later this week :getin:

if you can get around to it the DLC is definitely worth doing.
The DLC areas always feel like a big step up from the vanilla content in these games, with the best level design and bosses. Dark Souls 3 is the only one where I didn't feel that way.
