I'm so glad they (mostly) dropped Renner in the M:I movies after Ghost Protocol. Was worried he'd be the secondary lead going forward.

I remember first noticing Renner in an episode of Angel, where he was a tortured artist/fanboy of the titular character. David Boreanaz cosplayer is still his best role.

A year I ago I caught S.W.A.T. on the telly and I was amazed to see him in a decently sized role. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raSWINBYtuc&t=22s I remember looking at his IMDB profile at the time and noticing he also had a voice acting role the video game for the Catwoman movie

It wasn't parody? I thought that was the point, a formulaic Vietnam movie when blammo giant ape!

Renner definitely lucked into hollywood. I mean not a horrible actor but def a stagnant-career-make-a-deal-with-the-devil vibe

So I watched the new version of The Witches last night, and uh... I read the book years ago as a kid so I don't know how much of this is from the book, but this is the first time I've seen a Roald Dahl adaptation since learning he was a raging anti-Semite, and that could not have been any clearer in the movie. Big-nosed demon-spawn with vaguely Eastern European accents hunting down our precious children to poison as part of their plot to take over the world... hmm, wonder where Dahl got those ideas from? Also I can't believe that movie came from a combination of Zemeckis and Guillermo del Toro.

If we just started naming guys who were basically interchangeable with Jeremy Renner active in Hollywood right now, how long do you think the list would be? 50 names? 100?

Suddenly I'm envisioning a scenario where due to SAG rules an actor who has broken his body to pieces is still required to continue filming to get credit so they Weekend at Bernie's it and use CG to fill the rest in like moving his arms or interacting with the environment.

I cant say I've liked Renner in much of anything other than American Hustle...which I feel like was a pretty lovely movie overall (other than like, Jennifer Lawrence). His weird Pesci vibes and stupid hair in that were great.
