I unbookmarked this thread because it was just Seraph being deranged, but for what it's worth, divabot's blog is wrong too. I think this person has a foundational misunderstanding of cryptocurrency and its history and objectives because this has been a common problem.

Got through chapter two last night; woke up with book over my chest still sitting in reading position which doesn’t mean it was boring, for me it means I was fighting my sleep cycle so intently I didn’t want to put it down! Great read so far, and reading as well as your first book which I read cover-to-cover in one day when it was new (paperback for it, too).

I really like the style of your writing and research. Thorough but not pedantic. Some authors ramble or get impressed by their own subject, but both this and Blockchain stay locked in until the point is made. Big fan and always enjoy your thoughts and sarcastic style here on the dead gay forums!

Crapto is a wasteful solution for pedophiles and dopeheads who “eyeball” unknown Russian chemicals. It also has all the factors and hallmarks of a Ponzi scheme. If Madoff had access to a fake money printer, which without that singular ability to always create money on demand would fail, we would still be calling him a genius. It’s why Ponzi schemes ALWAYS fail in the end. Tether printing pushes that comeuppance down the road but does not solve the problem. I won $3,000 in free slot pay last night in Tunica, MS. I ended up winning $400 total, so if I can turn thousands in to hundreds it means I’m already on my way to be a crappy titan of “industry. “

I always like the bitcoin uses less power than banks argument which even if true is because bitcoin just doesn't do most of what a bank does. it's like saying a hand cart uses less energy than a frieght train, sure but you aren't loading the same things on it at all.

Trust based systems tend to kick untrustworthy people out of them. With blockchain you gain immutability but lose the ability to make reputational assessments based on association. My default assumption about crypto-currency is that it involves people and activities that for one reason or another can not participate in systems where people are trusted.

Tether is the most delicious icing on the "you don't have to trust us because blockchain" cake.

That's my quasi-autist take.

quote:

In his final weeks in office before Joe Biden’s inauguration, President Donald Trump is weighing granting clemency to Ross Ulbricht, the founder and former administrator of the world’s most famous darknet drug market, Silk Road, The Daily Beast has learned.

According to three people familiar with the matter, the White House counsel’s office has had documents related to Ulbricht’s case under review, and Trump was recently made aware of the situation and the pleas of the Silk Road founder’s allies. Two of these sources say the president has at times privately expressed some sympathy for Ulbricht’s situation and has been considering his name, among others, for his next round of commutations and pardons before the Jan. 20 inauguration of his 2020 Democratic opponent.

It is unclear if Trump has arrived at a final decision yet, but Ulbricht has gained some influential backers in the president’s political and social orbit. Behind the scenes, he has the support of some presidential advisers, as well as criminal justice reform advocates with close ties to the administration and Trump family, including Alice Johnson, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

“I’ve had documents forwarded to my contacts in the White House as early as February,” activist Weldon Angelos, a former music producer and ex-federal inmate, said in a brief interview on Tuesday evening. “In the beginning of the year, [Ulbricht’s] family had reached out to us for our support, and my organization and I have endorsed his full commutation, and I am hopeful that President Trump will commute his sentence in its entirety. This case has perhaps more support than I’ve seen in any case of this kind.”
