K-pop gives video games a run for their money re: awful comments sections on social media. The kids (and adults) who engage with that stuff are marketed to so heavily to take ownership in their groups successes and it breeds toxic behavior across the internet. Best to just never read the comments anywhere ever. K-pop also leans hard into parasocial relationships which only makes it all worse.

Soooo I started reading Jessica Jung's book (Shine) and it...rules? It's YA so like, not fine literature or anything, but I'm enjoying it because of the k-pop stuff I guess. Although you do have to wonder how much is based on her real experience (which I guess is the point). Also it's got some good vocab like the Korean word for gently caress (ssibal)

For the others at this point it's more likely an image thing, as they're technically still members of SNSD, so having a group of girls who never acknowledge that Jessica existed and then a few who do would be pretty weird. You get the girls slipping up sometimes when talking about ye olden days of the group, but it's p rare. There's always been a quiet knowledge that Jessica and some of the members seem to still be in contact, but no overt proof obviously. I'd imagine members like Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung who had all trained nearly as long as she did pre debut she's probably still fairly tight with. Sunny as well-- she's honestly never seemed the same since Jessica was given the boot. Girl looked so miserable all the time the first year or so after the fact. But hey that could just be because her knee is mad hosed up too. tis a mystery The day SM or SNSD publicly acknowledge Jessica again will be insane. I hope it happens. Having an OT9 comeback for the 15th or 20th anniversary would be amazing ... buuuut very unlikely to ever happen. OT8 for sure, but anything else is wishful thinking.

The mix/mastering changes from the early version have some odd choices like jacking the drums but the vocal lines and especially harmonies in the last chorus are great. I wish they would let Nayeon go off live like that.
