Turns out a government that does as little as possible, as late as possible, and trying to lie and bluff their way through a pandemic as if it's another PR campaign leads to things getting worse not better. Hard to blame people for not acting "rationally" when the messaging is deliberately misleading (so we don't get mad at them... immediately) and they set dates and times knowing these types of rushes are going to happen (shifting the focus off them and onto the awful, disobedient public). Also applies to Brexit.

All my grandparents died from smoking related respiratory diseases years ago, and I think my parents are pretty healthy. Once again the conservative party has nothing for me.

Classy. My aunt's neighbour died and left 5% to each of her grandkids and split the rest between her two daughters. One of them hasn't got any children and so is going to court demanding she gets a full 50% before they get anything.

We were going to family, but now it will just be a nuclear christmas. I went to Aldi last night at 9pm to get Christmas supplies, as we have nothing in - completely dead. No one else there. The staff were as surprised as us - I was expecting people to be going to get emergency turkey and pigs in blankets! Perhaps everyone who wasn't already prepared was just getting pissed/scrambling to drive now. I filled up a trolley with food and drink to cover Christmas, NYE and brexit. Gutted to not to see family, but Goon Christmas Discord is now a thing I can experience for myself. And I bought myself a few bottles of wine.

HBO did a good 8 part docuseries on NXIVM, that hosed up cult that branded women. It's called the vow and it's pretty good. Other than that the expanse has just started another series if you're into that or gently caress it watch 10 seasons of taskmaster

So, after last nights unexpected announcement.. My mum is due home from hospital for christmas, the original plan was to go & visit for a few days. Now only 1 day is allowed. I'm still planning on going for christmas day as she is looking forward to it. I'm very low risk, I don't use public transport, am a key worker at my place, wear a mask & stuff. The bit that worries me is we'll most likely end up having a few drinks so I'll have to stay the night. My parents attitude is that it's not guaranteed she'll still be her next year so gently caress em! I feel the same but would like another point of view.
