Maybe I have the perfect head shape for it but the strap out of the box on the Q2 doesn’t bother me a bit. Even going back and using my CV1 didn’t make it bothersome to me

On the Sony topic, I feel like now that a ton of people are experiencing proper VR without a PC via quest, they will really need to step their game up for psvr2

When PSVR came out you could reasonably argue it catered to a market that was interested in VR but not interested in having the PC to back it up, but the quest owns that market now and it does it at a reasonable cost

I am nearly certain they intended there to be multiple strap options, since everyone's head is different so keeping it a bit cheaper and then letting people buy what works for them is actually a really smart move. Then I think COVID killed production / shipping so we only have a trickling of elite straps.

But yeah, the cloth strap is useable but otherwise real bad.

I couldn't stand the default strap, the elite strap is a big step up but a modded DAS is still the best IMO.

emuVR is the absolute best. Its such an enjoyable romp to disappear into. Turn the lights out, set it to night time, and the glow of the virtual CRT can really take you back. They just had a huge netplay addition where people can now come over to your room and you can play together, and it looks pretty incredibly well done, the developer has a real commitment to this project.

every nvidia card on every headset, as far as I can tell

people are just complaining about it a lot more in Index / Reverb, possibly because of pixel density making it easier to take things into crash land, if it's performance related. People have been complaining about it on the Rift S specifically as well for months, though, back since it was originally reported when "something shifted" in the driver stack.

I know it's really loving challenging to get your regression stack to the point where marginal perf degradation in some app states is detected, but, the fact that it's taken Nvidia more than six months to even figure out what the root cause is, is pretty :allears: . I actually have a friend who is about to start there doing something director level, I told him to expect lots of kvetching from me even though he won't be able to prioritize any of this poo poo, or get me hardware deals.

On that note -- as of today I'm pretty happy with my reverb. I am running my computer forcing PCIe v3, and I have processor auto-OC disabled for the moment, but everything is running, including Competizone. Competizone still won't run at 100% supersample in SteamVR, but it will run somewhat over native res, and from what I'm reading online it sounds like this game is fairly demanding so maybe I shouldn't be expecting even a 3080 to run this at 100%, not sure. I will see how close I can get it.

Disabling all my RGB control software has left my system in a state where everything just pulses fountains of rainbow, but I think I am good with that for now.

Its quick to get started and playing in emuVR thankfully, but some of the cosmetic customization can take a while, especially making sure the labels (for the systems that currently have models) are right, and some formatting of the posters can be weird since they have to be set size images. This image for example I wanted to use as a poster, needed to be letterboxed or cropped to fit the set size, so, there are some quirky. Unless they've changed things, easiest thing is to just to open the default images, and paste whatever image you want in there and save it, instead of making a new file.

It also runs in desktop mode, so you can test anything out before having a headset as well.

How to play WWII content
We are going to be hosting 24/7 10 v 10 servers for players to play Tank TDM on our Stalingrad map.

Additionally, some of our community members have already added WWII content to their maps for use. You can subscribe to the collection of maps here: World War II Enabled Maps

So... yeah a bit odd, it seems they added a bunch of guns for Soviet, US, British and Axis weapons.... but the ONLY official WW2 maps are Tank crew deathmatch?

So, they're just relying on the community to build WW2 maps?? :effort: Literally not a single one shipping with the update??

This makes sense. I remember feeling a little odd during the tutorial but generally it's been fine. It's only a matter of time before i punch the wall though. This was my exact experience, the only way it worked for me was with the glasses spacer, otherwise the entire thing painfully rested on the bridge of my nose or felt like it was going to slide off the top of my head, no matter how i set it up. Even then, it was very uncomfortable. It was fine for my partner though. The elite strap makes a huge difference, hope it doesn't break on me.
