My COVID-folks, take care of yourselves. If you get the standard symptoms, it's basically a bad cold with added energy drain that lasts closer to 2 weeks. lovely, but not as bad as a bad flu. All of you watch out, 4-8 weeks after symptoms end, vascular, heart, GI, GU, muscular, lung, and neurological complications are possible. The missus was lucky and just had slight muscular weakness, my mom had decreased kidney function that's steadily improving, my dad has heart problems that he won't admit to and muscle weakness, and I've had a laundry list of problems from exhaustion to dangerous varicosities and lung scarring COVID sucks, and Post-COVID can suck more, but the odds are in your favor and I wish you all the best. If it starts to be work to breathe, a double dose of Bronkaid will help you so much

The only long term side effects I have is no-energy and feeling like I just walked up 5-6 flights of stairs. I'm normally a 7-10:30 type of schedule, which is great- but lately I'm luck if I get 8:30-10PM with only a few hours of usable energy. I can't imagine what this will do for people twice my age.

So I scored 2 12in subwoofers and a 1500W Fusion Amp a few weeks ago for $100. Today was 4 hours of being a dumbass getting it all installed. With my headunit and aerpro HVAC controller installed I cannot easily get to the RCA Sub Preouts so I did some very frustrating blind work upside down in the drivers footwell getting the angle to slot them in. Then I buttoned up all the panels and realised I forgot the trigger wire, so restripped everything to find a Acc line on an unpopulated connector! Woohoo, and it's actually a standard connector I can get a match at local electronics store. The biggest bastard job was running the VCC to the Amp from the battery - should be easy seeing the battery is in the rear. Nope all the panels are a dick, and had to take out the rear seats, all the floor panelling for the rear. There wasn't a single decent grounding location either so had to make one up. It worked first go! Woohoo for me! Gotta love a car that uses Philips, T8 and then a few T40 as a wildcard. No photos as I've retired upstairs for a beer and I hate myself, so pulled the Traction Control and Sport Shift switch board out and about to swap the LEDs on it too...  Oh and when AerPro say on the box their 'Professional' Amp wiring kit has everything needed.... No. Literally only the VCC with its fuse, a short grounding cable, and a 6 metre trigger wire. The install required 3 trips back into town. One for the connector to trigger, one for the RCA cabling and third for amp to sub box cables. Dammit, my sleep schedule is hosed. Fell asleep at 2PM and woke up around 8PM. Not a good night's sleep but enough to fool my body in to staying up another 12 hours. I started this by staying up watching TV until 3, then 4, then gently caress it why not just go to bed at 9AM. Then I started back at work and need to get back on a regular schedule. I've been sitting down at my desk at 4AM just because I'm awake, I finish my workday by 1PM, by which time I'm wiped out and pass out for 4-6 hours. It also fucks my motivation, I had the whole day free today with ok weather and I wasted it sleeping. I went to the store and that's it.

Those are the worst. I once returned from the US West Coast (so -10h or so) and proceeded to have a week of: Go to work Be extremely sleepy in the afternoon Get home from work, decide that a half hour nap on the couch would do me good. Wake up five hours later, quite bewildered. Brush teeth, go to bed. Stare at ceiling for many hours. Be woken up by alarm clock after a few hours. Repeat. Took a whole solid week to get back to normal.

I wanna know if they're cut off from their instances entirely or if they just can't host the app. Like what about database and vm backups? Can they still exfiltrate those? I'm sure Amazon is going to hang onto that for at least 90 days as legally required. Either way it's loving hilarious.

Can't wait to get an induction cooktop too, I haven't read a single review were someone wasn't raving about induction cooking.

Both seem to work well, cleaning down an induction cooktop is 1000000 times easier than the gas cook top at my previous rental. The only thing I dislike about the induction cooktop is cooking with woks, since it didn't have the adapter for allowing the proper heating of woks with it. You have to leave the wok on the cooktop for a while before it gets hot, compared to a saucepan or frying pan. Wok haze hard

We bought a kitchen full of Bosch 800 series appliances in December of 2019. They have been... average, at best. The dishwasher is borderline terrible. Bosch relies on condensation drying instead of direct heat, so if you use plastic things, they're gonna be wet, no matter what ultra-heat-sanitize option you pick. The Oven/Microwave combo is a joke. See it in person first. It's billed as a dual oven/microwave, where the microwave works as a convection oven. It does, but from the looks of the press shots, it's the same size in width as the oven. In reality? It's half the size, so its usefulness is significantly diminished. The regular oven cooks unevenly (more done in the back, so you have to turn poo poo around halfway through for even cooking). The refrigerator is okay, the icemaker overmakes the ice, so when you open the freezer drawer, nuggets of ice fall behind the drawer, so you have to get on your hands and knees and reach down behind the drawer to recover them. Its wifi setup is ridiculously bad (I think the root cause of this was found to be us receiving an EU-spec board instead of a US-spec one). In general, it's a refrigerator, I hope it lasts. The gas cooktop is fine, I have no experience with induction.

The fridge also uses a fan to cool the fridge side; only the freezer has coils, and it blows cold air from the freezer side into the fridge side to keep it cool. Well that fan failed too a couple of years ago, and the replacement cost me another 300 bucks, which made me double mad because it's literally just a 92mm three-wire PC fan. The freezer is starting to wander now in terms of temperatures; my fridge thermometer shows it varies between -10C and -24C, even though it's set for -19C right now. I suspect the coils might be jammed full of dust, so I should probably clean them before passing judgement.

Rental I'm in has a Bosch glass-ceramic cooktop, dishwasher, and 800-series oven and microwave, and we got a Bosch dishwasher on our own for the previous apartment. The dishwashers are good, though you have to keep them fed with rinse-aid for the express cycle to take 30 min. The oven we have is ... an enigma. I love convection and it goes real low in temperature which is useful for keeping things warm. I cannot get behind the UI - I hate the membrane buttons on it. Their european ovens used to have a rotary encoder which is a lot faster to select program / temp with compared to these lovely buttons. Also, the loving thing won't keep the light if you open then close the door. The timer also sucks. The glass-ceramic cooktop, well, at least it's not coils, i guess. This house has gas for the water heater, fireplace and the dryer but they decided to rip it out when the reno'd the kitchen for no good reason.

I went to several different small local places that service what they sell. The first one I went to sold Bosch and I wanted some 800 or benchmark series stuff. They would only sell the dishwasher and in their own words “the rest of it is garbage”. Reviews seem to fall in line with that. Wound up just going with GE and other stuff wirecutter liked. Nothing on the high end seems reliable, just expensive.

I’ve lived in apartments for the last 15 years, and the stuff they buy seems to Just Work. Not fancy, but reliable and poo poo. People I know with Samsung and Bosch stuff all seem to love it for some reason, but it seems to be lovely stuff built like the worst German car tropes.

I've gone down the rabbit hole of appliance repair and I will no longer buy anything that I cannot buy parts for at least semi-locally. This has eliminated certain manufacturers but not all, which is a little odd. I can rebuild my LG washer and dryer without issue but if I would have purchased a Samsung equivalent, would have been out of luck. My Maytag dishwasher is almost 20 years old and I can still get parts but if I replace it with one from Bosch, I am SOL.

Well that's disappointing. Seems like not a whole lot of appliances are above average these days. We're keeping our dishwasher, but need a fridge, range, and microwave. Fridge is the most important, we need a good counter depth fridge with a least 21-cu ft and Bosch just looked and felt the best. Was hoping to do matching appliances (like the Bosch 800 series) but if I need to mix things up I might just do that.

That made me throw up a little, but seriously. The quality is probably acceptable, I think they own GE these days. In general, the more basic the appliance the more reliable it will be. How wide is your current fridge? Thats usually the best way to start. A stainless box with handles looks about the same regardless of who makes it so don’t worry about mix and match. I wound up spending about $18k on a full suite of Monogram built ins and a 36” gas range. I wanted wolf/sub zero but it cost too much. There was some “La Cornue” range that you could spec out to $250k.

I think manufacturers can pay to place certain ones on top. Also, lowes and Home Depot pull reviews directly from the bosch website, so bosch in essence controls the content of all of them. Local service matters with appliances. Find out who actually services, not just sells, and ask them what works. Lowes/HD/Ferguson all outsource to some local companies here and they have no problem talking about what breaks.
