group gasket in my espresso machine was so hard and cracked that i was able to snap it into little pieces with my hands. no idea how it wasn't just spraying me with near boiling water everywhere every time i threw the lever now replaced with a fancy new silicon gasket, may it deliver me many a cuppa

I don't have pourover-specific coffee equipment (aside from a gooseneck boiler I got as a gift) so I cut the top half of an empty milk carton, jammed it upside down on top of my french press's glass container, put a filter in, then made myself a pourover and the result is v. good.

I prefer the cartons because the bigger quantities spoil faster, also the cartons are recyclable to a better extent than the bags.
