I believe this fits the Amerikkkan gothic style. The off balance placement of the subject and implied right to left motion initiates a sense of unease in the observer. The foreground subject's posture and implied motion is reminiscent of the sad Charlie Brown walk - feet barely leaving the ground, downcast head, hunched shoulders. The background is composed almost entirely of different greys and browns, and even the little bit of green present is mostly washed out with a sick yellow tinge. The only striking colors present are wrapped around the dejected subject, which conjures a sad, bitter irony. Knowing the context of the photo, we can presume that the subject was in DC in hopes of enacting radical political changes only to have their worldview and horizons shattered by the bleak reality of the continued status quo and their role as a useful idiot for rich con-men. They've invested their entire being into the empty signifiers of the American Nation State, their identity encased inside a cheap rubber mask and a clown-esque suit. With Donald Trump's failure to invest further libidinal energy into these signifiers, they have lost their functional ability to create meaning for the subject. The plug has been pulled on the machine that once generated a cohesive, dignified identity for the subject. They are no longer a brave, lib-owning, patriot, instead they are an empty non-being with a tacky shell. Edit: Welp, looks like they found more libidinal energy lol
