And they never will because they made opinions on superhero movies into a moral signpost. They bet huge on Snyder turning out to be a secret QAnon psycho or something and now that actual politics and morality are involved they’re objectively wrong, so their best strategy is to hope nobody calls them out on it and/or accuse Fisher of being a liar.

They’re all white people who fancy themselves leftists but have never done an ounce of praxis in their lives, so they twist themselves into arguments about how doing what they already do - watching superhero movies and posting about them - still counts. My God, they piss me off so loving much.

This is my take as well. There's this weird performative behavior where they assume Snyder is some alt right objectivist and his fans are MAGA chufa and they as leftists have a moral obligation to hate him and everything associated with him.

Big props to Lindsey for breaking ranks though, lots of respect for that.

Just in case anyone doesn’t know, Geoff Johns is of half Lebanese decent, was married to an Asian woman until 2009, was a part of the casting process that led to the West family being black in The Flash series, is the creator of Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz, the extended Shazam family and was a driving force behind Cyborg being a founding member of the New 52 Justice League.

I’m not saying this automatically absolves him of any potential racism, but it does make it highly unlikely, and it seems to me like Walter Hamada would agree to that. Racism is a huge accusation and it baffles me why Ray didn’t open with that back when this circus performance started last year. If the investigation did find anything on Johns, which bear in mind was conducted by the same team that got Kevin Tsujihara sacked, why are Warner and DC protecting him? Why aren’t they dropping him and cancelling all of his projects to come across as the ‘good guys’? Why did Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Patty Jenkins agree to work with him after Justice League? Why did Ben Affleck praise him on the press tour for The Way Back when he had absolutely no reason to? How come everyone from the cast of Titans, Stargirl and comic folk like Jason Fabok and Scott Snyder continue to praise him?

I know people love to make Ray out to be the David to Warner’s Goliath, but the more nonsense he spews on Twitter, the less believable he comes across as. It’s been obvious for a while now that he’s riling up the Snyder Cut crowd and has relied heavily on them to get his narrative out there. Why else would he go to Sheraz Farooqi, the same guy who’s written pieces on how Snyder’s Superman was a needed evolution and that the Snyder Cut will be the sole saviour of HBO Max, instead of THR and Variety, the latter of which has had one of their reporters reach out to him several times since July. The only times he’s ever been specific with his claims, the colour grading in Justice League and Geoff Johns being fired, he’s gotten shut down and yet people are still willing to turn on anyone Ray got so much as a dirty look from.

Hope it was worth it Ray, can’t wait to see what your next hashtag is going to be.

EDIT: Also, if A > E was so important to Ray, how come he was willing to work with Amber Heard and Jared Leto on *new scenes* for the Snyder Cut?

How the hell can anyone go to bat for the corporate side of things? It's so goddamn shameful and infuriating.

That seems absurd on its face. It's completely possible for a Black or Asian or (obviously) half-Lebanese person to show bigotry. The reason it's worse when we White people do it is because it has teeth. A poor Black woman might hate all white men equally with every atom of her soul. But she can't deny them employment. Or screw them out of benefits and housing. Or get them killed by calling the police on them. White people can do and have done all of those things and more.

And given what has happened to Parker, it seems pretty clear that Johns' racism also has teeth.

They want what they want. Recall the outpouring of grief with Chadwick Boseman died. Figure some of it was unmixed, from the people who really knew him. But among the comic-book movie crowd, you know drat well that 99% of their "grief" came from "But, but what does that mean for Black Panther 2 and Phase 4 of the MCU?!"

That's pretty true for everybody to some degree or another. It's just more obvious due to neckbeardy entitlement of comic book fans who watch the movies about their universe.

Yeah, that last bit was awkwardly phrased but I wanted to pin down the detail. I'm not talking about the people who go see Justice League because "It looks fun." I'm talking the Cat Piss creatures who care deeply about this stuff. The ones who thought (and posted) that Zendaya playing the (fictional, not actually real, made the gently caress up) character of MJ was wrong because "Mary Jane is actually white!" Those fuckers.

What really steels my hatred of Ellis, Olson, Fish, Renegade Cut, and the entire Breadtube clique is that they all claim to be leftists or at least Democratic Socialists, but they hung their hat on the idea of liking Snyder flicks to be somehow morally bankrupt, so when an actual labor issue that might make Snyder look somewhat good comes along it’s dead silence (if not outright denying it.) You can hate Zack Snyder and still not be a tool who accuses the black actor with a history in labor organizing of being a liar, but it’s specifically incompatible with these people’s world views because they made a business off of turning this into a culture war. You might be able to throw your support behind Fisher if your videos were just about how Snyder isn’t your thing, but they’ve spent so long attaching him to fascism and other moral degeneracies that to back even just someone with good things to say about him throws their entire thesis into question.

It all goes out the window the second something that doesn’t perfectly align with their bizarre red-string theories comes along. You cannot count on these people as your allies.

If you're at the point where "commented on something several times" is the same as "spending most of your career" then perhaps Ellis (who is literally the first person you listed in your original post and the one directly referred to with the "wow" comment) isn't the person who is the problem.
