John Lithgow should play The Judge from Blood Meridian in a movie adaptation.
I realized this the other day while watching his famous documentary "3rd rock from the sun" and he was casually abusing his actor son on-camera for my benefit.

(Leon from 3rd rock is his irl kid)

He's a very fun actor to watch and I can't imagine anybody else but him or maybe Lawrence Tierney to play the judge properly. Maybe Bane could do it too, idk.

Also Sam Rockwell would play Toadvine.

Also 3rd rock from the sun is pretty funny even 20 years later.

There should not be a movie adaptation of Blood Meridian because although the book is excellent the actual events in the book are just endless gunfights and eating of blackened tortillas.

100 years of solitude is another book that may never be adapted to a movie along with a confederacy of dunces.

Netflix is supposedly working on 100 years of solitude but there’s been no news about it since 2019 so I think it might be dead.

There was that one time a baby got killed. Babies don't do well in McCarthy novels.

You can't do a movie adaptation unless you somehow manage to put the word "thrapple" in the dialog somewhere.

Who would be the best actor to yell about shooting the rear end off Jesus Christ, the long legged white son of a bitch?

Fun answer: Charlie Day

Serious answer: Michael B Jordan

My snap response is Tom Hardy but he might be too good an actor for that role.

Cameron Monaghan maybe

I've only read Blood Meridian and The Road.

They're both good but I can't help but feel the none-use of pretty much any punctuation is just McCarthy being the literary writers version of an edgelord.

The Southern Gothic style he's greatly influenced by has a lot of that. His books wouldn't have the same vibe without it, it replicates a kind of racing thought which imbues the language with a dreamlike quality. William Faulkner's books, as a comparison, feel very sleepy and hypnagogic; it emulates the feeling of heat haze and slow-burn Southern anxiety.
McCarthy's book have another fairly common genetic marker of the Southern Gothic style, which is the whole "absurdity of modernity" slant that's apparent in books like Blood Meridian and No Country For Old Men. You find ways to make the method reflect the subtext.

It's good, inspired by other, more popular American books, and commonly assigned in colleges; so, by virtue of being good gets poo poo on frequently.

Maybe you should check it out.

Yeah, but i dunno about using a fat suit since he'd have to do some naked dancing at the end of blood meridian.
