less protons = less acid

getting into the nitty-gritty about the neutrons is only going to complicate things, probably make you feel bloated

Btw, taking a ton of tums/acid reducers can often backfire and leave you with less stomach acid that you need. If you are having issues with acute intestinal pain, watch out.

Also, taking a SSRIs or not even getting enough Vitamin D can lead to serious issues as well since you are essentially screwing with serotonin levels in your GI tract.

They say, "you mean it's just sounds?" thinking that for something to just be a sound is to be useless, whereas I love sounds just as they are, and I have no need for them to be anything more than what they are.
OP, the poster who suggested something like GERD may be right, and the other poster who suggested that long-term use of acid reducers can be harmful is right too. If you try to see a doctor about this they'll be useless as gently caress and send you home with Zantac or Omeprazole because they don't care the slightest bit about solving the root cause and are only concerned about treating the symptoms.

I suggest you get serious about doing an elimination diet and figure out what your trigger food/s is/are. For me, I was experiencing terrible acid reflux combined with a feeling in the center of my chest like someone was driving a knife into me. It hurt so bad that I couldn't move or speak until the episode would pass. It got to the point that this was happening every day. In addition to that, I had loose stools and these humid/burning farts that were just CONSTANT throughout the day. Absolutely miserable. I saw a GI specialist (after a three-month wait, of course) who literally suggested simethicone, pepto-bismol, and Zantac. Anyways, I worked really hard to figure out the problem and it turns out I cannot eat oats. I would eat oatmeal every day and put oats in all kinds of food because I know they're supposed to be good for you. The day I stopped eating oats was the last day I experienced a single one of these symptoms, and I've been symptom-free for over a year now. Not saying it'll be as simple for you, but I encourage you to try.

in my experience they dont work when your belly is a wasteland of cheap beer, rotgut whiskey, and greasy processed foods. had terrible heartburn and diarrhea all the time and it was because I was putting down a case of PBR every night and a totinos pizzas. now I drink high alcohol IPAs / eat less totinos and I only have regret.

Same, my GI doc experience wasn't great either. the long term care goal was just high dose PPI's and a shrug. I felt it was worst when I had any milk products so I cut those out, and recently am trying out cutting wheat and eggs to get rid of the last of my symptoms. Works better than the PPI's ever did for me.
