All gonna be a haul that I'm still not really equipped for at all (most of those are even further from me than the ones I'd seen previously through Craigslist), but the searchtempest suggestion seems to be potentially helpful. Going to have to keep an eye out. e: fwiw there is at least a Staples with multiple Hykens within half a mile of where I live, which is the budget option I've been considering, but... ehh? I used one of these for several years, and while it isn't perfect by any means, I kept going back to it over "nicer" and newer chairs that the company was buying because I really liked how the thing fit me (solid and aggressive lumbar curve) and the tilt mechanism (basic bucket tilt). It looks like Steelcase made about 3m of the things between 1977 and 1995 or so; might be easier to track down than a more contemporary (and sought-after) chair. According to that website, they go for about $50 used. Someday, I want to furnish my dining room with a matching set of those things, because I'm an idiot.

Found a resale shop in my home town that has B and C size Aeron chairs for sale. Does Herman Miller sell the cylinder and foot rest to increase the height? My desk is an old wood top work bench that I refinished and regular chairs are too short. I'm currently using a drafting chair that is starting to fall apart.

My buddy got his leap v2 from the madison seating open box deal on ebay and said that it is in excellent condition with only slight rub marks on the adjuster stickers. Still waiting on mine cause I ordered a different color direct from their website.

Just on Madison Seating there's Humanscale Freedoms for ~240, or a Leap v1 for ~290. The HON Ignition 2.0 is 300 new. The pandemic has definitely messed up pricing pretty badly, but if you're able to find something used at an office liquidator or university surplus store or something I think it's worth doing a good bit of searching, as people have been saying . They can still get pretty close to a Hykens in price, but are a lot better health-wise, I think. I hope you end up finding something, good luck!

Hate double posting but here I am anyway. Is the apparently-common "workpro quantum 9000 is just a cheaper quality aeron" sentiment actually accurate? Managed to track one down to test sit, it hits a nice height and mesh isn't as bad as I expected... but it sure seemed like over the ~15min course I was going from "the seeds of horrible tailbone pain every time" with my regular chair to "the tailbone pain isn't as bad but wow this lumbar support is unpleasant and no amount of seat depth shifting gets me to not feel like all my weight is on the very back of my seat". If that's the Aeron experience too then that would at least wipe something off my list... Q9000 may actually be good but they've tripled in price since this time last year to almost used Aeron prices. So definitely not jumping in there with those bits combined.

I'm looking at a Steelcase Gesture on Amazon right now for only $827 new (from the Steelcase store, nonetheless). Seems like a good deal; I'm a fatass, should I be looking for something different? I have a used Steelcase Criterion I picked up seven years ago that I think the gas canister has given out on; the pickings on Craigslist are mighty slim, and I can afford this, seems like a good investment with the 12-year warranty.

I got my madison seating leap V2. Instead of black upholstery/black frame I got: jet black upholstery that's so fresh I can smell the spray adhesive on the seat pan grey frame adjustable lumbar that I didn't pay for Seems to be basically in the same condition as all the $500 leap V2's with years of rear end stains that I saw at a few local office liquidators. Ordering from madison is definitely gambling though. e: the lumbar firmness adjuster is a torsional spring and a winder, whoever removed and replaced mine reinstalled it with the steel peg on the backrest below the eye of the torsional spring. you get what you pay for. Anyone have serious opinions re: footrests? Ive realized that I like reclining in my new actually good chair much more than I ever did in my many years of very lovely chairs. What I do not like is propping my feet on the wall or dangling in the air when I do so. I want something like... 18 inches, (give or take?) Off the ground, on which to prop my feet. Anything especially great in this space?

I assumed that the high weight limit meant that it was a good fatty chair, but the seat gets really uncomfortable after sitting in it for a couple hours and pokes in areas sometimes. And I really hate that you can't lock the arm pads from pivoting, so if I lean against it just a little bit, it'll pivot outwards and I have to shove it back into place. Also, their furthest position forward is still too far back - if I'm sitting straight up, I can only rest my elbows on them. It also feels like it's throwing me forward when I first sit down (I have to lean back to prevent that feeling), and there's no way to adjust the tilt. I just got the boring charcoal 1001 and the standard seat, JR77M armrests, standard 5" cylinder, soft casters. The quality of the fabric is excellent with no wear after 2 years. The standard seat is a bit firm, but comfortable, and also no wear after 2 years. I would definitely ponder the memory foam seat & armrests and possibly the lumber support if ordering again. I think the leap v2 might not be a good fit for me. I had tried it locally before ordering one but after a couple days of desk use it feels like the back rest and seat angle don't go quite far enough forward. It's really close but I think I might have to return it and pick up a local used Aeron for the forward tilt feature. I also underestimated how much I would miss having a headrest for occasional use.

Does anybody have a surefire way to buy hard floor casters for a Leap V2? The ones on the Steelcase website are over 100 dollars ( ) and the only other ones with a decent amount of reviews on Amazon all say that the casters from that seller are too small and make the Leap's center support touch the ground. I tried calling the office furniture refurbisher I bought the chair from a few years ago but they only have the casters for carpet, not for hard floors

I'm looking for a good, comfortable computer chair for like 6-8 hours of daily use (wfh) with adjustable height. Mostly looking for something that doesn't cut off the circulation to my drat legs, is good for my back, and lets me lean back a little. It would be great to spend under $300 but am willing to stretch budget. Does anyone have any suggestions  I tried skimming back a few pages but the brand names are a little overwhelming.

As far as I know, absent investing time in bargain/closeout/surplus hunting, you're probably not going to find anything in the ~$250 range that is meaningfully better than the ~$150 Hyken. Chairs that are actually really ergonomically good for your legs/back start at like $600 maybe.

Kind of late to the party on this one, but I got a Steelcase Gesture about 8-10 months ago, and it's the best chair I have ever owned. It's incredibly comfortable no matter how I sit in it, and I am also a fatass and the sides of my butt don't even touch the armrests when I am seated. It's rated for 400 lbs, and I am around 325. I assume the first thing that will crap out will be the hydraulics, as that's generally how they go, but it seems to be holding up a lot better than my prior chairs. If you are concerned, they have a heavy duty version of the Leap chair which is rated to 500 lbs. Depending on how long the hydraulics last on this chair I might go for one of those next time around.

I recently purchased this cylinder to replace the one in my 5-year-old Steelcase v2 because it has been slowly sinking. This one is way worse, the chair does not stay at full height even for a few minutes, I feel like I either bought the wrong cylinder or installed it poorly, even though I found many videos guides which did it exactly the same way. It was tedious as hell removing the old one and installing the new one, but for now I think I'm going to be putting the old one back as soon as I get tired of sitting 2 feet from the ground. Just really bummed out about it, enough to maybe splurge in a new chair at some point in the future, but I don't really wanna eat the cost.

My Hyken's headrest snapped, and I can't find the receipt to go through a warranty replacement. (Not to mention I have also never loved the chair all that much, and now that I'm working from home...) So... what's the best office chair with a headrest? The Gesture seems fantastic but expensive as poo poo, I have coworkers telling me the SecretLab Titan is much better than expected for a "gamer chair," and the ErgoChair 2 has a mesh back but the most divided reviews I've ever seen: people either love it or they loving hate it.

Aerons have a ton of aftermarket headrest options I think you can get headrests for the Leap as well The Quantum WorkPro 9000 from OfficeDepot comes with a headrest option I'm a headrest guy myself, but my Cosm seems to support my upper back so well that I don't even feel the need for them (granted, I got the high-backed version, but you can't use the integrated headrest without staring at the ceiling)

Another thing to consider might be tilt mechanism as you narrow down your search; for example, I really did NOT care for the tilt mechanisms on the Leap or the Gesture. I very much have come to prefer tilt mechanisms where the relational angle between the seat pan and seat back does not change (or barely changes).
