For anybody that likes to filter through Best of the Year lists, the metal subreddit ran a vote recently and tabulated the results here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metal/comments/l0n6uh/shreddits_top_10_of_2020_results/ And someone else went through all the various blogs and combined those results here: https://old.reddit.com/r/Metal/comments/kmeq07/list_of_lists_2020_oranssi_pazuzu_made_the_best/ Pretty rare to find anything new for me near the top of these combined lists, but it's a nice way to find a band or album I missed.

My terrible old band had the practice space next door to Revocation's and IMO it was more enjoyable to listen to them practicing their own songs than it was to practice ours

Like Cattle Decapitation, Revocation is one of those bands I heavily respect and enjoy but never listen to because it just doesn't light a spark for me.
