The Cuervo gold? The fine Columbian?

I for one have been revisiting The Royal Scam (I like the edge of Don’t Take Me Alive) and trying to find out how to score these gems. Might make some soft pretzels next weekend

What’s your album? Have you made the pilgrimage to Annandale?

Ok so basically my tip is find the SD single you like the most and then listen to the album it’s on.

However my fave jams are rn
Kid Charlemagne
Deacon Blues
The Fez (and basically the latter half of The Royal Scam)
Any Major Dude Will Tell You
Hey Nineteen
And you’ve likely heard most of Can’t Buy a Feeling (which is OK tbh but doesn’t give a whole feel of the band Y’know)

E: Donald Fagen’s The Nightfly is also loving amazing and wow, the entire album, listen to the entire album

i like kid charlemagne the most because its like a good skeezy 60's crime novel in song form. would be great adapted into a movie

musically speaking i love the crazy drum/synth breaks in the middle and end of aja. i hate the rest of the song though

"Carbons? Purge? What are you talking about?!"

steely dan is my second favorite band of all time even though they were mostly popular decades before i was born, i've seen them twice (or really one-and-a-half-times because once was after becker died on the summer of living dangerously tour :( although tbh that was overall a much more engaging and fun performance so i'm kinda torn)

i had the original Steely Dan T-Shirt steely dan t-shirt and wore it so often the lettering on the front is almost entirely worn away and it just looks like a charcoal gray shirt

Steely Dan smegging rule, thx for the reminder to play an album soon.

Heard Ricki Don't Lose That Number in a shop recently, and sang along. It's long been one of my favorite tracks.

I saw them live in Boston and spent literally an hour holding my breath waiting to hear the reaction to "sweet things from Boston/so young and willing"

(also Steely Dan was probably like my 100th favorite band when I was a teenager and is probably like my 5th favorite band now... Are they destined to keep rising?!?)

They are pretty much the quintessential cynical middle-aged man band. My best friend liked them in high school (because he was an insecure, frustrated nerd and they are also a quintessential band for guys like that) and my punk rock rear end disparaged them and said they were for perverted guys in their forties. One day when I was about 38, "Showbiz Kids" came on the radio and I was hooked. I don't know what it is, maybe all the diminished 9th chords mirror my diminished erectile function.
