https://mobile.twitter.com/coreyp08/status/1354290394738126848 This doesn't surprise, but seeing how big the disparity is written out is mind-boggling. Just off the top of my head UK has blown late leads against Louisville, Auburn, Georgia, and Alabama. Meanwhile, Devin Askew is 0-13 in the last 3 games, 6-12 from the line, with 10:7 assists to turnovers, and is a statue on defense, yet leads the team in minutes and is in at the end of every game. My only hope at this point is that Duke misses the tournament too just for the hilarity of two marquee programs missing out in this crazy year.

NC State's Devon Daniels tore his ACL. In a way it's sort of a relief, as the Pack are not making this tournament and losing Daniels means there won't even be any suspense about that. The program probably should've voluntarily taken a postseason ban earlier this season, now it's not going to mean much.

Kentucky-Texas is cancelled tomorrow, due to COVID cases and contact tracing in the UK program. As soon as I saw it assumed it would be Texas with their recent issues, so that's a bit of a surprise. Hadn't heard much of anything about COVID in UK sports at all this year. A minor outbreak in football but nothing cancelled then even.

The Big East was so great back in the day. LOL. I had forgotten the coach Chaney threatened to kill was Calipari. quote:On February 13, 1994, controversy ensued when he threatened to kill then-University of Massachusetts Amherst coach John Calipari at a post-game news conference, where Calipari was speaking at a podium. Chaney entered the conference mid-speech, called him an "Italian Son-of-a-Bitch" accusing Calipari of manipulating the referees. When Calipari attempted to respond to the accusations, Chaney yelled, "Shut up goddammit!", and proceeded to charge the stage, before being stopped by security. While being held back, Chaney shouted, "When I see you, I'm gonna kick your rear end!" As security restrained Chaney, he repeatedly yelled, "I'll kill you!" and angrily admitted telling his players to "knock your loving kids in the mouth."[5] Chaney received a one-game suspension for the incident.[6] The two coaches later reconciled. Chaney praised Calipari's coaching ability and defended him over the Derrick Rose controversy at the University of Memphis.[7] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6jUpHClybQ

Man 2000's Big East was so freaking good. I wish I would have appreciated it more when watching it. Modern Big Ten is close to that at least - I love a conference that's 10-12 good teams deep. Does anyone remember Jonny Flynn's incredible Big East Tournament run to get Syracuse into the tournament?

This year is like pre-March Madness college ball, back when each region had one or two dominant teams but you didn’t really know how good each was because they aren’t getting tested against each other until the actual tournament (when they would all lose to UCLA).

The incoming class is highly rated, but there is some overlap with existing guys, so minutes might be an issue. Class after that's looking good too, one of them is dropping efficient 50 point games against some of the better teams in the state.

So if mock draft boards are to be believed Sharife Cooper has absolutely played himself into a ~0.5-and-done, which was not the assumption even when we thought he would be getting a full season. Turns out he's amazing! I think the intangibles on the side of staying at Auburn -- Sharife's probably the only guy with this decision to make but some at the lower end of the depth chart might have some ideas about finding playing time elsewhere, with more talent on the way too -- will be as strong as they possibly could be: especially with Sharife, this is an obvious title contender, and none of them have ever seen the postseason or, for the freshmen, even played in front of a full home crowd, plus BP's connection with his players. But Sharife's getting projected around the top 10 and no one ever turns that down so... good for him, just wish it hadn't been during a wasted season that the NCAA stole half of.
